Right at the start, a side on view of the "Predator" skiing down Kirra hill....!
;(
GREAT WAVES @ 1:16 deep barrel fantastic come out!
At 34 sec this is a great wave great barrel after another
Sweet waves.
I'm guessing the ski's were there for safety and not to give anybody an unfair advantage?
About 1:50, that burning. If I was the recipient, I'd be PISSED OFF!
Yeah, I thought that to Zen, but maybeee the recipient got towed in???
I'd like to see the footage from the whoever swellnet hired to see an unedited version of the days proceedings.
We didn't hire anyone to film this swell.
That's a shame, I seem to recall some one up on a soap box blowing their trumpet about doing something like that on the first swell of the season, but I'm old now my mind plays tricks on me.
I reckon the guys that are posting video are spewing having to put in the extra effort to edit out any misdemeanors the pro's on skis are getting away with, I mean there hardly going to have any chance of getting any work with the pros if it's their video dropping them in it.
Calm down Shaun, we spent quite a bit of time trying to tee someone up to film but all of our regular contacts weren't available.
I heard you guys have Scorsese on a retainer.
No kidding.. you should see his rider!
Fuck, you have only had months to arrange it. Things work that slow in the SW office.
Huh? Might have been months to arrange, but there's only several days notice to tee up someone once the weather charts start to show promise. Not everyone is available every hour of every day, indefinitely.
Oh but you did pay someone to film it. It wasn't that hard after all
After Stunet's big idea and all your promises you changed sides in the debate, and burnt your readers in the process.
If there’s just one clip to watch from the last Gold Coast swell, make it 'The Mad Hueys Do Kirra’ - now playing exclusively on Swellnet: https://swllnt.com/1EpXXdx
I'm presuming you paid for it, if its 'exclusive', and you are selling it pretty hard
You are just encouraging the bogans
Didn't pay a cent mate. Didn't tee up a single videographer either. Tried, yes - but every video we've run had no input or coordination at our end.
And how did we 'change sides of the debate'?
I presumed you paid for it. How is it exclusive if you didn't pay for it?
So if you didn't pay, maybe you haven't changed sides. But you are selling their cause pretty hard, encouraging the morons.
I really cannot believe its that hard to find someone to video what's going on, fuck I would do it for free if I was currently on the goldy, I don't think it needs to be production quality, some nice handycam work would do the job.
Selling their cause?
Mate, we've simply run their video on our website, and we put a link to it in our morning surf report (like we do many mornings, with a wide range of other content).
Why? Because it's a bloody good video. We've done it before with other videos by other people. You're looking for a conspiracy theory that doesn't exist.
Re: finding a videographer - yeah, I didn't think it'd be that hard either. Unfortunately though, we've got a lot of other work to do here, rather than spend hours and hours looking for someone on the Goldy with a decent video camera.
Nevertheless, we did receive some photos (which you can see in another comment of mine, below), and they'll be featured in a new article very shortly.
Note: if you think we've been sitting around scratching our arses about all of this, you're very wrong - we simply don't provide an ongoing commentary about "what's coming up on Swellnet later this week!".... it kinda spoils the surprise (and also lets all of the other websites know what we're up to, which ain't a particularly sustainable business model).
cool, I await your redemption,
exclusive?
I know its the media's job to talk shit up, but that whole sentence appeared a little overly excitable
Yeah, it's exclusive.
i don't really care either way about the debate itself ( ie if they want to shit in their own nest , then its up to people who surf it to regelate , not crusaders on keyboards ) .
you didn't pay a cent Ben Qudos .
if it is exclusive to you guys ( i can't verify as i'm not udo and spend all day trawling the net ) , then perhaps this is the Hueys themselves sticking it up all the guys here gettin stuck into them .
tongue in cheek , they are saying well here's our Video fire away ....
Try harder benny, We want blood!!!!!!! ;-))))))))))))))
Geez i hope the gorrilla at 1:50 is proud of himself, what a cockhead.
See... Now that's more like it..... After the jerkathon last week over 3 to 4 foot wonky trade swell with ese winds, it's good to see some footage of real waves...
Compare the above kirra footage to the burleigh footage below... Burleigh footage had to be taken over two days...... 90 seconds worth of edited footage over 2DAYS.... Cut and pasted 4 second rides at best... Maybe there was a 6 second ride in there... Dunno.. fell asleep...
https://www.swellnet.com/news/swellnet-dispatch/2015/02/16/burleigh-head…
Or perhaps look at a rival website's footage of Snapper on the 11th/12th filmed by Craig Halstead featuring Parko, Pacey and Wright.. Out of respect to Ben and Craig, I will not post the link, but it is easy enough to find.... Again, it took 2 days to get 100 seconds of lame gutless footage...
But Kirra, one session..... 130 plus seconds.... long powerful barrells.... Yeah, not classic Kirra, but hey, at least it was real surf....
BTW, Apart from that trough out at 170w 26s, things aren't looking too good re' mid to long term......... I'd say make the most of the next few days.........
Agreed Sheepdawg, cyclones are way sexier.
watched a few of the cams on Friday arve. barrels and big turns, it was obvious there was a few pros in the water.
i didn't notice any skis, at least not at rainbow and snapper.
the crowds, especially at snapper, looked horrendous.
It takes a Cat 5 cyclone for you guys to get waves does it???? NO wonder you all drop in like wave thieves...
Couple of images just received, from Thursday at Kirra.
Driver of the yellow thundercat.....please lend your safety helmet to one of the paddle surfers he will likely need it more than you.
And the jet ski speeding through the line up, what if someone was duckdiving etc so dangerous in a busy lineup....
the guy in the thundercat should be arrested for trying to rip off the arms of the guy towing...as bad as it gets!!
No Skis/boats should be allowed near the break or inside its illegal.....but ah the Goldie is the cowboy coast.....
i saw that yellow thing when I was driving past and thought it was a really shithouse tinny.
"This will end in tears" I thought as it was putting around waaaay on the inside
A jab with my tail fin into to the side of that yellow.............submarine
Tow-ins at 4ft Kirra?!?!
This joint has reached a new low...
HaHa, at first glance I thought it was one of yellow plastic kayaks, maybe one of you guys that live up there could paddle one of them out and drop in on dingo with it. ;-)))
