Andre Botha (well know South African Lidder) has about 15 mins of further footage of the swell for those who are keen. You see hit at 2:50ish in this clip.

If a wave breaks at Skeleton Bay and someone doesn't film it from the inside with a GoPro has it really broken?

mick-free Friday, 19 Jun 2015 at 11:18 am new

Fickle wave - that's the first time it broke this year. That last swell looked windy and pretty shit from the footage I seem so far. Pretty exposed Donkeys so need it perfect no local troughs, light south winds

Couldn,t bear to watch clip right thru, another self flatuator, film me while i film me filming myself . Ban the go pro "hero", feels like looking at someone else,s "selfie" collection .

I reckon that view from inside the pit looking out, especially at this location, is bloody awesome!! Such an incredible set-up........

mick-free Friday, 19 Jun 2015 at 03:12 pm new

Yeah but Mike fair play you still click on it to watch it....

Having surfed the wave now. I'm stoked to have the experience there. If footage had never been taken of Corey Lopez.....I and nobody else would have known about it. Cats are flying in from all round the world now for that break. Next 3.5 - 4.0m swell there will be 100 guys on it.

Having said that if it was my secret spot like a similar sandspit in NZ which has the same setup. Would you believe me or do you want to see the footage?

just the GPS coordinates and an instagram thanks mick.

mick-free Friday, 19 Jun 2015 at 04:26 pm new

I can take you there if you shout me an air- ticket ACB, otherwise head to Namibia and look for a big lighthouse. It's pretty easy to find. Pack ya barrrel game though ad travel insurance. Local hospital has had a few spinal injuries and broken limbs. I hit the bottom on every wipeout, like landing on concrete. my gram is mick_free, there's photos no go pro though so Hunt will be happy

Yeah the lighthouse is the giveaway. You can check it on Google earth which is how I found it. There was an article about the region in National Geographic a couple of years ago and the lighthouse featured again. Looks heavy Mick and I assume the sweep is all time. I heard guys were driving people back down the beach as the rides were soooo long but have stamped it out since. It did look very blowy and hard to get into and that water must be freezing as everybody has on the full kit.
