Italo Ferreira and his unconventional backhand - video

Though he has one of the most powerful backhand attacks on tour, Italo Ferreira stands with his feet relatively close together. This puts him at odds with the wide-legged, stinkbug jibe so often used to stereotype the Brazilian's, and it also gives the appearance Italo is riding longer boards. Squint and you'll see Tom Carroll circa early-90s with a low centre of gravity and a lotta foam out front. It never slowed Tommy down and doesn't appear to impede Italo either.

Here he is giving it to his local, Baia Formosa, near Brazil's eastern tip.
