Mick Fanning charges Shipstern Bluff - video

Swellnet Dispatch

On Wednesday Mick Fanning joined the Tassie locals at thumping Shipsterns Bluff. Just over a month after his close call at Jeffreys Bay, Fanning dropped into the jaws of Shippies and made good his escape.

Not so lucky was Tyler Hollmer-Cross, the unlucky punter going over the falls in XXL style.

Footage thanks to Tim Bonython/Channel 9.

Now anywhere Mick Fanning surfs is deemed shark infested waters. The ledge that wave has is far more deadly!

I think Matt Lee, Craig Ibsen, the (deceased) Tassie diver and countless others would beg to differ.

haha except for the spastic waves being surfed watching that vid felt like a timewarp back to 30 years ago when i relied on shitty tv news coverage to provide a glimpse into what the pros were doing in and out of comps.

complete with clown comments from gormless newsreaders and odd context quotes from surfers.

top notch.
