What a wasted opportunity. Rasta is one of the smoothest surfers going around and that is what he's famous for, not walking barefoot, not talking history, and definitely not espousing K-Mart level philosophy (wabi sabi notwithstanding), so play to his strengths - include more surfing!
At least you can expect a different take on surfing from Disillusion. I guess you can give them that credit.
I do dig it Udo and I also see your point Spleen. I surf with Rasta a fair bit , it's a joy to behold and he's never anything but a total gentleman in the water.
When I find myself involuntarily hating on the bloke I have to admit it's nothing but jealousy on my part.
Sure he gets paid for nothing but going surfing but this world makes bankers rich, people selling land mines blowing kids to kingdom come. On the spectrum of things he's not doing any harm, getting paid to surf beautifully.
I don't hate on him....though admittedly my comment was caustic, but figured that within a 13 something minute video the filmer would find more time to show us the very thing he's famous for. Why else are they following him around, certainly not.....nah, I'll leave that alone.
That vid was shot here in May, you can see from the discoloured water that it was just after a major storm event and the banks were shitt. Surprised they managed to get as much surf footy as they did.

I'd rather watch and listen to Rasta than some pro sucking down redbulls with his hat and his sunny's on with nothing to say, yeah billabong get to show their logo every so often but they're paying him as well, and most of us are only jealous of his cruisey lifestyle. He seems like a decent person and that's the most important thing.
Dave is a legend....... and he's figured out that when you can please people... you will be rewarded. It's that simple..no matter what you choose to do !

I thought the clip was lovely and everything Zanella does is well crafted. Have to wonder if that was a glass of his own piss Dave was pouring himself at 8 minutes odd though :) … nah in all seriousness it was 13 minutes very well spent. Sick little clip.

In all seriousness we should be really stoked that clips like this are out and dropping for free. Like Freeride said Dave is a gentleman in the water and surfs with a style and grace that comes as a visual treat. I wanna see more Rasta surfing in good point waves!
No question Dave is a beautiful surfer and hell of a nice bloke from all reports..Call me a cynic but this story reminds me of the Korduroy TV clip Another Day In The Life Of Wayne Lynch.?..I get the distinct impression Billabong are using the WL template to market Dave…Hope Im wrong but I don't reckon…I would have loved to see something new and not reinvented in this story….As I said ,call me a cynic..

Yeah they are all hippies so:
if you ride a board with one less fin, you are contributing toward reducing fin production by a 3rd of it's global potential, which is good for the planet given the toxic chemicals used to produce each skeg.
Same as for beards, if you carry a thick beard as opposed to shaving, you can catch food in it and save it for later, all the while contributing toward reducing the epidemic food wastage that occurs in first world nations.

Worst surf movie ever, absolute dribble, I remember when rasta used to rip vids apart it seems the further he tries to evolve his mind the worse his surfing has become , poor guy he's trapped in a time warp he was never part of . I'd like to see him open up his mind a bit and start surfing some new gen shapes ,he's doing his surfing abilities a horrible injustice doesn't look like he's having fun anymore
