Bronson Meidy: 11-years old - video

Swellnet Dispatch

"Born and raised in Lakey Peak, Bronson Meidy is one of the best surfers in the world," says the accompanying text to this vid and we raise an eyebrow. A big call indeed.

But is he the best 11-year old surfer in the world? No argument from us.

Yes he's incredible for 11 yrs old but can he surf beachbreaks?

Will probably suffer the same issues as every other 'born and raised' Indo surfer - rips in clean reefbreaks but not so good in beaches or when the conditions are crap.

Will probably have to relocate to the goldy to have any chance of making the tour - like Oney Anwar.

Unlikely to see him feature in anything other than undergraound free surfing videos IMO

Yep that is what makes us and the zillas so effective. Hard yards in the rubbish and this sort of stuff is Christmas. You forgot to mention the colder water. Wetties bring them to a halt real quick.

Are you two @&$!king kidding me

Half the section was on him surfing small beaches and it's as retarded saying that, by your logic Hawaiians wouldn't make it for the same reason which is clearly not the case, it is a extremely competitive sport and yeah only a handful make it through.

Best of luck little man hope your dreams come true, stick in there much to go but damn you got good foundations

Those small beaches were reasonably good quality. Hawaiians go to Indo to surf clean waves as theirs are often all over the place and wind blown. The young indo surfers I have seen down here in Victoria (which along with a few other stops they need to adjust to) just can't handle the cold and general conditions. Great surfers who suffer severe surf culture shock. Lets face it what would you rather surf cool water, often quite good or warm water always good and often great? You would really want to do it to leave Lakey and grind it day in day out in marginal conditions a long way from paradise.

I'm just glad they didn't say 'is this the next Kelly Slater?'
