I don't think there would be any bruised egos.
Their boards are crap.
you have to be taking the piss. surely.
Hey Clif, how's the Old Blighty treating you? Enjoying? Swapped dumplings and noodles for Fish 'n' Chips and Curry?
It's great. The area I am in has a lot of waves, with some tasty reef breaks. It's inconsistent but compared to China it is joy. The reefs haven't been showing much form as the winter swells are kicking in a bit late, so a few locals say. I've ordered a few local boards, and am getting used to my 6/4 wetsuit, boots, and gloves (I couldn't handle the mittens, so awkward - but I may need them later). I stay pretty damn toasty so far. The modern neoprene is super stretchy. Still, it's all new and surfing with all this gear requires adjustments to technique - I have do a one half turn rather than one full turn each wave haha. I really love it here already. Great vibe. Live on the beach (it's affordable!) No crowds for the early session, especially away from town. Just me and the birds. That is pretty sweet and worth the price of admission in my world. Lining up a trip to Thurso etc. Then an adventure in the Faroes if I can pull it off. I hope your neck of the woods has been firing.
Sounds like you've hit the ground running man.
If you get down (or up) to a place called St. Agnes in Cornwall, a good mate of mine and his wife own a little cafe overlooking the beach called Cafe Genki. He's a surfer and frother and really nice bloke. Tell him Dan from Hitachi recommended you drop in and he'll probably usher you back out the front door straight away:)
PS You'll be wanting those gloves soon as inconvenient as it may be.
