Can't say It's going to have me glued to the screen.

Are these surfers overjockeying and as a result taking off too deep ?
Albee Layer and Billy Kemper at Jaws showed how angled take offs on shorter boards resulted in better rides at the last contest but here the hassling might mean people have to be too deep to get a wave ?
Too many take offs end up behind the shoulder and the rider is just bouncing in front of white water before being mowed down........
And for wipeouts the person who gets run over and then goes backwards over the falls in the second ? scene goes straight into any All time worst wipeout comp !

A mate once told me his porn consumption had gotten so bad that he had to watch the most twisted stuff in order to get any kind of rise.
I feel like my surf viewing has reached this level, and unless it's borderline paddle-able Chopes, it aint doing much. Even pipe had me switching channels.

'A mate', eh?

roubydouby Sunday, 17 Jan 2016 at 04:43 pm new

what is this, an inquisition?

thermalben Sunday, 17 Jan 2016 at 04:48 pm new

Ha!

Gotta agree with you though. The bar is so high now, anything less than near-death gets a collective 'meh' from the peanut gallery.

roubydouby Sunday, 17 Jan 2016 at 05:08 pm new

Ha - it's true... mind you, I've copped a few crumbly 6 footers on the head lately and in my mind they were every bit as heavy as a boring old Waimea straight hander... then you realise, oohhhh, maybe they weren't, and maybe I should shut my mouth.

harold Friday, 15 Jan 2016 at 08:52 pm new

???!! What's your local look like?! Call me a mere mortal, but that got me psyched

roubydouby Sunday, 17 Jan 2016 at 04:50 pm new

might have just been feeling a bit flat the other day... Was much more interested on second viewing.

caml Friday, 15 Jan 2016 at 09:54 pm new

Looks like an awesome peak & it handles a north wind or noreast ? Thats pretty special

penmister Friday, 15 Jan 2016 at 09:57 pm new

Get you glued to your board....

penmister Friday, 15 Jan 2016 at 11:13 pm new

That was sick watched it with free wifi and head phones....wonder if you could paddle in with a 7.0....

slashbash Sunday, 17 Jan 2016 at 10:00 am new

Paddle that size Waimea on a 7 ' .... Really ? The shortest boards are the Rhino chasers all the others are custom specials. My question is , how many quads are out there over thrusters. When you see massive Jaws , 90% of the guys are riding quads , great to see that quads have made into the big wave arena since all this big wave paddle in fest has started. My sphincter just mutates watching this stuff, couldn't do it. Hope the Eddie happens. Bets on Dorian, RCJ to name a few. Good to see that JJF had a go, even though he touched God at the bottom yeehaa !! Go boys

AndyM Sunday, 17 Jan 2016 at 12:17 pm new

JJF touched god on one?? If he touched god inappropriately JJF could really be a contender to join the clergy. Might effect his surfing though!

AndyM Sunday, 17 Jan 2016 at 12:18 pm new

Hang on, you did say he touched god at the bottom...

udo Sunday, 17 Jan 2016 at 10:09 am new

On 7'0........it will happen in the next five years, Slater or Albee Layer will likely do it.

caml Sunday, 17 Jan 2016 at 11:23 am new

Quads have been the popular choice for years at mavs, waimea , nowdays at jaws . Its not new

udo Sunday, 17 Jan 2016 at 12:10 pm new

Slater and Josh Kerr on Todos invites list

EDIT: WSL 8hrs ago, Slater decides not to compete.

thermalben Sunday, 17 Jan 2016 at 12:26 pm new
