Eleven hours at Mavericks - video
If there's one good thing about the Eddie being cancelled it's that the nine surfers appearing in both the Eddie and the Titans of Mavericks get a few hours reprieve. Rather than a white knuckle ride to the airport and red eye flight to the mainland, they can now afford to take their time. No doubt they'l be wondering what, if anything, will be waiting for them at the other end. Safe to say it won't be anything like the last swell, February 5th, which was called off because of a clash with the Superbowl.
The Peahi contest aside, it hasnt been a great season for big wave comps.

Full on. Gotta say that vid is better than the Drone footage.
Much better than the drone footage which flattens the wave. In waves of that size it's all about the vertical elevation. Lose that, lose the drama.
Speaking of drama, anyone else got a feeling the Titans comp tomorrow is gonna be a dud?

How's the spit on some of em, full detonation effect going on. Could not imagine being caught inside!
Check out the little head bobbing around inside about a minute in, imagine seeing that coming towards you having already been pummelled!
That Matt Becker wipe out at 2:10 is pretty horrifying as well. That moment after he fell where he is laying on his back skipping along the surface, he'd have been watching all that lip coming towards him and thinking this is gonna hurt.
OMG. That barrel at about 1.00 was awesome. In the true meaning of the word.
