I think Dorians waves look bigger and are better ridden than the TAG rides in other awards? Is it just paddle vs tow catagories?

They're all awesome but I think Albee's is the first legit big wave barrel I've seen. Often they're just quick opportunistic high line cover ups (like the one at Mavs). But Albee's was long with a clean exit and no camera angle funny business making it look deeper than it is like with that ol' shoulder hopper, Shane Dorian's wave.

I think the term you're looking for Benski is 'Facey'. Dorian loves gettin' a few faceys from the shoulder and his sub-optimal rig makes the waves look bigger than they really are.

Gary would never make the big wave awards because his rig just lights up the camera and makes the wave look insignificant in comparison, alas.

I saw Gary G commented on this thread. Just had to check, not disappointed.

Most definitely Shane's wave with that little swivel sideways in the lip and then still make the drop and then still get Monster kegged. SD you rule mate. Alibis one is close second though. That keg must have been so big and exhalation looks so rewarding. Would've loved to seen the look on his face. Good to see the boys are going for the barrells now with no reckless abandon, it all looks timed and committed. I think just making the drop on those monsters would be rewarding enough, little lone pulling up into those frothing gaping holes yee fuckin haa. Go for it braa! Don't look back.

Sorry that was SDs second wave -- monster keg. Looked at all again. Alibis free fall though was pretty specky though! The double lip section for the barrell ride was epic. I agree!
