One of the best locations during the recent East Coast swell was an Illawarra beachbreak. An otherwise innocuous li'l strip of sand with few redeeming features.

...until, that is, a combination of swell direction, period, and size, align to unlock its staggering potential. Then it gets compared with Mexican beachies such as Pascuales or Puerto Escondido. "I've done a few seasons in Mexico and it was just like that," said Dylan Robertson in a recent article, and images from the day show Dyl's comparison to be on the money.
