You got me rab, had to have a look at what the zh self promotion machine is throwing up this time. Tow into 4ft beach breaks, "be a hero" and look back at the go pro in self wonder and awe after every head dip, legend stuff for sure (enough to make even walshy wince) Had the pleasure of having to surf around zac while he excitedly jumps around infront of his camera on occasion and ruins what otherwise could have been an enjoyable session .kid is keen but i wonder if he really gets it at all? Strait from the alfy carter school of big wave riders an circus promoters.

Why do guys look into the camera after a barrel when it's not an impossible ride. Selfies are so vain. The wave is the subject every time. Mug shot not required.

I think you will find it is not vanity, it is about the practicalities of commercial filmmaking.
It is about adding the human element, individuality and product placement to your clip to make it more likely to be added to websites and more likely to service your sponsors.
And in the meanwhile you've got jet skis buzzing around the lineup in 3-4ft surf.
