Kolohe Andino // J'Bay - video
The forecast was always pointing towards a great swell hitting the weekend before the J'Bay Open waiting period and that's exactly what transpired. Supers was 5'-6' with ideal cross/offshore winds giving the Top 32 the chance to wind out on slightly longer and narrower equipment.
Here's Koloho Andino adjusting to the walls of J'Bay. Been a while since we've seen a web edit of his, and this one lacks his usual above the lip flair. No surprise considering J'Bay requires an emphasis on old school attributes: speed, timing, and the odd hack when the section allows.
Kolohe comes up against two goofys in his Round One heat, Ace and Jadson. Competition starts tonight.

I'm not sure what it is about him...I've never met him and never seen him surf...but for some reason he comes off like a total wanker and his surfing is all ugly and arse out. Average clip...should get dusted by Ace tonight!
i dont know him and havent seen him surf in the flesh either, but i get the exact opposite impression than you. I reckon he surfs awesome and is unlucky to lose so often, but then he cops it on the chin and moves on. good on him.
