Mick Fanning on E:60 - video

"The world deals you these cards and you have the choice to be crippled by them, or you have the choice to go 'alright, let's see how we can carry on from this'"

E:60 is ESPN's longform news show and this week it took a good long look at Mick Fanning, in particular those dramatic 37 seconds at Jeffreys Bay. Since it happened just over a year ago everyone's wanted a piece of Mick - no pun intended - but this is one of the better offerings.

Narrated by Chris Hemsworth, Mick's story is propped up with archival footage and a sound historical context.

Legendary is not superlative enough. Mick is our real-life modern Australian superhero, and even perfectly imperfect enough to have an occasional flaw via a drop-in - like most of us do. Thank you for your strength, honesty, humility and inspiration Mick.

Great piece. I feel for him but even moreso for his mum. Must be so hard to lose two kids before their time.

So true. No parent should ever have to bury their child.

Enjoyable watch but a shame it was not a real balanced piece of journalism - a few notable things left out. Despite this I find myself liking him more these days. He has been through more than most and seems to come out the other side stronger. Incredible.
