It has taken a little while but we got there.
First off, I just wanna say thank you so much for taking the time to email me chasing the movie. I'm stoked you took the time and that you want to see it. And it's been such an amazing experience to hear from everyone all over the world!
Without talking too much I've just got a few requests for you when watching...
1. If you can, watch it with some friends and some beers (if you're old enough) or hell, even host your own mini-premiere! And if you do send me some pics, I'd love to see! Just tag instagram @dionagius or something.
2. Please play it super fucking loud, either with headphones or some nice speakers. Feel the bass. Piss off the neighbours.
3. 'The smiling bag' is free and for everyone to enjoy, please share the file to all your friends, your mum, your grandma, anyone and everyone who wants it. Sell it on the blackmarket do whatever you want with it. It is yours and I want you and your friends to enjoy it.
And thats about it.
The signed, limited edition, high quality USB version with stickers, posters, shoelaces and other goodies will be available in a few weeks. I'll let you know when those are ready.

Epic. Did not expect to like it so much, but I did. Aesthetically very pleasing, great soundtrack, unreal surfing. The turn at 33:15 was pure butter.
Haven't watched it yet, saving it for the holidays, but I gotta say I dig the way Dion has gone about this. Release a trailer, then the full length movie, all for free, suggest a few viewing guidelines that may or may not be followed, and try and recreate a vibe.
Reckon there would've been 1000 surf vids released on the 'net this year, but only one with instructions to, "Please play it super fucking loud, either with headphones or some nice speakers. Feel the bass. Piss off the neighbours."
Got to agree there......I watched the trailer and it didn't excite my interest at all- same old faces, wearing the same old unbuttoned shirts, doing the same old things- all a bit hipstery try hard and utterly predictable- but the email and the genuine good will of Dions approach has got me interested again to give it a try.
Do it, Freeride - it's so worth it.
And FWIW, the trailer didn't do it justice.

I really enjoyed it. A bit cliche and all but some cool tracks, great surfing, cool locales and nice angles. Agree, the trailer doesn't do the vid as a whole justice.
I reckon I'd get more out of it if I was stoned though.
