John John and Ian Walsh distant dreaming - video

Stu Nettle (stunet)
Swellnet Dispatch

Ian Walsh gets full marks for bravery. Not because of his Jaws and Mavs carry on, but 'cause he invited John John to star in his signature film 'Distance Between Dreams'.

How so? Well, it's not a good look when the lead actor is overshadowed by the cameo. When the support act blows the headliner off the stage.

Yet Walsh takes the risk...and, well, he gets a barrel or two. But John John...fwoar...how many seconds is that first pit? 14, 15 seconds..?

Say no more...

Is this the footage that finally opens the floodgates ?

Beautiful viewing.

It's like when the American punters learned 'la Jolla' could be insanely fun at 3 foot. The cat is already out of the bag.

I could almost hear the drone operators internal dialogue on that last exchange:
"Must keep camera on Walshy.... being paid to keep camera on Walshy..."
*sees JJ paddling into bomb behind him*
"Faaaaaaaaaaaark. Must keep camera on Walshy.... being paid to keep camera on Walshy..."

Those couple of turns around 1.05 - absolutely searing.

You can almost hear the hiss.

surfstarved Wednesday, 25 Jan 2017 at 12:14 pm new

Holy shit. I know better than to ask, but I REALLY want to know where that is.

NickT Wednesday, 25 Jan 2017 at 02:32 pm new

Its no secret, P-Pass

eel Sunday, 29 Jan 2017 at 01:43 pm new

It's not P-Pass mate

benski Wednesday, 25 Jan 2017 at 02:37 pm new

You know the place, Blowin?

Looks amazing.

Blowin Wednesday, 25 Jan 2017 at 02:59 pm new

Its the next P Pass.

Been subtly revealed for a few years now.

Rip curl, slater etc

Pretty sure it was the Quik crossing that first drew it to the eye of the "Love for sale " brigade....always despised the whole idea behind that modern age of high seas plundering.

Go there now !

clif Wednesday, 25 Jan 2017 at 08:32 pm new

Yep, there is a surf camp there! It is no secret. Slater has clips. Rip Curl have clips. Getting to P-Pass is a dream compared to getting here. Mr 'Quik Crossing' plundered a lot, didn't he.

Pretty much my dream wave. How long is that first barrel? And that searing carve!
I can pretty much guess the archipelago, but not pinpoint the spot. Guessing it would cost a pretty penny to get there and stay there, but in my dreams.

Blowin Wednesday, 25 Jan 2017 at 03:01 pm new

I did a turn like that yesterday .

But nobody saw it.

Not even the crew on the shoulder staring right at me.

indo-dreaming Wednesday, 25 Jan 2017 at 06:52 pm new

Sick surfing and sick wave kinda like Rifles.

simba Wednesday, 25 Jan 2017 at 07:02 pm new

Wow,some beautiful surfing going on there, love that first lonnnng barrel of JJs but wont remain a secret for long now.Awesome set up.....sort of wish this wasn't shown in a way.

tonybarber Wednesday, 25 Jan 2017 at 10:27 pm new

For most of us, it would be a dream to get there. Any chance where this dream is ?

clif Thursday, 26 Jan 2017 at 04:10 am new

Can I tell him?

goofyfoot Thursday, 26 Jan 2017 at 08:15 am new

How's the difference between the two. Walsh rips and knows how to get tubed but Jjf just looks so smooth and controlled in everything he does. Fuck I could watch him surf all day.
Amazing

There had to be to someone doing the "i know this where is' muscle flex.

clif Friday, 27 Jan 2017 at 04:10 am new

Well, when we have so little to flex we have to take it where we can get it.

indo-dreaming Saturday, 28 Jan 2017 at 04:51 pm new

I just saw an older video of this wave some obvious clues if you know the areas characteristics.

And it's not in Indo.

This is an epic movie and def worth watching. I agree JJF (world no.1) surfing is fkn ridiculous in this clip. But after watching the whole movie... its def not the JJF cameo that i remember as being the best part. Ian Walsh killed it.
