Best clip in forever!
Dane and Jordy take a bow. 19 minutes felt like 3. Usually it's the other way around (slow-mo, onshore slop purely filmed for airs *yawn*, arty soundscape tracks, please stop doing this). I'm no Jordy fanboy but far out he's a pleasure to watch. More, more, more.

Incredible footage.. but Mötley Crüe, early 90's Metallica and GnR covering Bob Dylan? Sorry.. just couldn't go any further without hitting mute.
Dunno what songs there were after that but I do know I've got Axel Rose in my head for the rest of the day. Argh!
Yeah, I thought the soundtrack was questionable at best too. I like a few of those bands, Led Zepp in particular, but as the backing track for a surf flick? It's a 'nah' from me.
I would have liked to see more of him at Sunset as well. I think Jordy really comes into his own when he's pulling out the big carves on giant, powerful walls. All those air reverses are a bit ho-hum, but I really took notice when he aimed for the lip at Backdoor and just tore it to shreds.

Some epic footage...he's unique in his power and size and ability to flow through his turns...but until he transfers that to waves over 6ft he'll never win a world title.
It always mystifies me why we don't see footage of him gouging big Sunset or solid Haleiwa.

-Love his big hacks - when he doesn't bring them too far around so that he has to do a double pump to catch up. I think that has tainted his J-Bay surfing a bit.

His big swooping arcs off the top to cutback are magic to watch.

its interesting though. watching thus and wilkos bit one after the other. i find theres the best surfers in the world. then theres the best of the best. i feel like jordy (JJ, Dane) are in this bracket above the rest.

If anyone released a clip like that in the skate world they'd be ripped to shreds.
Funny thing about the soundtrack is that licensing those tracks would have cost some decent coin. The clip was a RedBull production so there would have been a reasonable music budget (it's hardly Amateur Dad using iMovie and his home CD collection) so they could have picked up much better, more contemporary music for far less.
I have a feeling this may have been Jordy's influence here - happy to be proven wrong - but over the years most pro surfers have shown to have pretty ordinary taste in music. Good thing they can surf alright, eh?
I was once at a mates bday party in a pub when the band announced they would be playing a GnR song and preceded to begin Knockin on Heavens Door. I forthrightly, with a belly full of piss, strode up on stage snatched the mic stand off the singer and educated him that it was a Bob Dylan song and he (the singer) was a wanker. The subsequent escorting off the premises left me with a permanent ban from the venue, 6 stitches in the eyebrow and a later dismissed assault charge.
Easily worth it...I still rub the scar with a wry grin and a gentle nod to self of congratulations.

Personally i found the clip to be boring,great surfing but repetitious with no story except Jordy.Also agree the music was wrong .
