Torren Martyn // The Sweet Spot - video

"Genius is making something hard to do look easy to do."

I can't remember who said that, for all I know I made it up, but regardless of the source that quote fits this clip. Check it out. Torren Martyn at DP, riding one of his flat-rockered twins, shifting his weight forward to mid-board, slotted in a near parallel stance, and backside too.

Personal experiences recall fins disengaging when standing too far forward, so there's a lot of subtle weighting that escapes the eye. While the layforward drag and stall is purely sublime. The backside reos too for that matter.

Fella totally deserves that white glove.

Such an unorthodox approach to the tube.

Sure does work for him though. Lovely tube riding.

(DP at that size looks so much fun)

Great to see non conventional equipment being surfed so well.

Be great to see some super slo-mo footage. I bet there's all sorts of nuance escaping the eye.

Looks like the approach helps lock that short rail in the wall with weight nicely on the sweet spot.
