Tim Stevenson // Lagundri Bay - video

Stu Nettle (stunet)
Swellnet Dispatch

Though Tim Stevenson's home coast recently lit up with triple overhead surf and offshore wind, it's still no comparison to his last trip to Nias.

Watch the Vicco fella charging hard during a big swell at Lagundri.

Barrelled!

God that wave has changed since I first surfed it in 1992 - with all the seismic activity. So much heavier I reckon.
Thats not to mention the small town that seems to have sprung up. I am no luddite and know that places change and will always change - but always makes me a little sad to remember sleeping in little huts on the point there....

Yes Bungan! Sniff.. You are reminding me of the late 80sand 90s traveling to Torquay for xmas ,easter and surf trips in general!

Yes Bungan. They were the days indeed. Staying at Amagumis for 500rp a night closest to the keyhole. Using the 2003 bird flu outbreak and the Iraq war as reasons to travel knowing numbers will be down. Surfed Lagundri all of May '03 with 3 French guys, 1 German guy and girl learning and very few locals back then. Had so many solo sessions it defies belief in this day and age.
