Chloe Calmon // Rio - video
Can't say I'd heard much about Chloe Calmon before watching this li'l vid. A quick scan of the WSL website shows her to be a competitive longboarder and one who's just enjoyed a favourable arc: third in the world in 2015, second in 2016, and now first this year.
First in the world?
What excuse do we have for not knowing her name..? Except, that is, from women's logging having a one contest 'tour' and an absurdly low profile.
None!
But now you, like I, know that Chloe Calmon is the women's world longboard champ, that she has a mighty fine drop knee cutback, and she wears a legrope in crowded surf.
Oh, and she's Brazilian.

Dunno about that leash thingy attached to the knee though, that looks like a right pain in the arse.
They call it a legrope, been around for a little while now.
They stop you from losing your surfboard when you fall off, but more importantly, they stop your surfboard from becoming a missile in the impact zone when you fall and potentially split someones head open. Hipsters aren't big on them though
as they compromise their image and this is far more important to a
hipster than someone elses' safety.
