Surfing Roadies

The premise of Surfing Roadies is awfully simple: recount epic road trip stories from surfers right 'round Australia. And that's what co-authors Chris Tola, John Waring, and Brian Birkefeld have done. The stories aren't all theirs of course - they'd have clocked their odometers if they were - but rather from surfers who responded to a call for submissions.

There's a few names that'll ring bells but the larger percentage are from the great unwashed - which isn't a euphemism in this case but a literal description.

Beyond the reading, entertainment is found in recognising the characters, locations, and scenarios in many of the stories. You may not have lived them exactly as written but there's enough familiarity to fire your own memories - providing you've also swung the chariot in search of waves.

And if you did, maybe you should put pen to paper and send your own surfing roadie to the authors. They're keen to expand in future editions.

At A5 size, Surfing Roadies is a perfect fit for the glovebox and the unbleached paper makes for a handy filter.

You can buy Surfing Roadies here.
10% of sales go to SurfAid and another 10% to National Surfing Reserves.
