Watch: Padang Padang one more time
Over the past fortnight Indonesia has been hit by five pulses of swell, three of them lifting into the XL range. The abundance of swell has meant that infrequent waves such as Padang Padang have been breaking with an all too rare frequency.
On Sunday Padang Padang was reportedly as good as it gets and the good folk at Surfers Of Bali were there to capture it in their own unvarnished way.
Also, it you'll take a look at today's Wave Of The Day shot by Tino Rischaway you'll see the Padang channel closing out. Another infrequent sight.

Man - you can pick the local Balinese surfers from the second they stand up....they have this solid, wide stance, quick movements and this insane feel for the wave - like they shrug the lip over their shoulders like a nanna blanket on a cold day!
You can tell em for sure they throw in way to many unnecessary wiggles and posturing

Had one amazing afternoon there in the 80's with one other bloke, in the days pre-internet where if you were lucky and on the spot you could score it uncrowded.
In a way though, I kind of like that the Balinese have got it on lock down.
I'm hearing ya Freeride. Got lucky and surfed it alone with a mate in May 89' after riding our motor bikes out there in the dark of the early morning. Proper 6 foot with a puff of offshore and we were joined after 1 hour by two stoked Californian blokes.
Had my last surf there in 91'. Happy days............
Ditto...never to be surfed again...like most places over there sadly.
I slept on that beach in the late 70's when you had to walk in. Surfed it alone. Fisherman would visit in the night and bring food.
Still, early days yet but!!! Some say ya gotta love it! Pure sign of advancing genius, that ever expanding crowd, resorts, sewerage, storm water and waste pouring into the drink, some reckon!! Fire hazard too, they reckon!

Well the population of Elliston is less than 400 people so it’s not too hard to locate those usurping the land of the “ First Peoples “ .

I am glad you can understand him Blowin as I never have any idea what Crypto is talking about. Yes nice and crowded and used to be far less even in the early 2000's. Doable take off then get set for the inside section. It is amazing how much smaller it is than the other breaks on the peninsula and that channel would have a doozy of a rip. That booger was never going to have that wave, they would have burned him no matter what.
