Watch: Parko's last lap at Teahupoo

Stu Nettle (stunet)
Swellnet Dispatch

“I was just frozen stiff, said Parko about his time competing at Teahupoo.

Now, 17 years later, he's had a bag of Perfect 10s, made multiple finals, and had one close second against good mate Mick Fanning.

In this clip, Parko talks about putting in the time at one of the deadliest waves on the planet, and how he’s certain he won ‘that’ final in 2012. Of course, old mate Mick tells it a little bit differently.

That is a funny interview. So classic, like 2 groms bantering over who got the best head dip.
Love it, more please.
How about a Kong and Gerlach interview??

Part of me thinks that the tour will end at tahiti next year ?

stunet Thursday, 16 Aug 2018 at 10:13 am new

Jeez, who knows? Late last year the big talk was to end the tour at Chopes, but then hold a specialty event in the Mentawais, invite only the top six, and decide the world title.

However, there's been nothing public since then and I've heard rumours that little will change with next year's tour. TBH, the Wossel isn't in a good position to be making large scale changes. If they had the goodwill of the fans, then yeah, but they've made far too many blunders in the battle for hearts and minds.

So funny. You can see them as old men, sitting on a verandah arguing about who won that heat.

Great mates but still soooo competitive with each other, probably half the reason they're both previous world champs. Would love to be on a remote boat trip with those guys to watch them push each other without a jersey on.

How funny. That wave at 1.12 is just Parko all over. Smooth, in control and just oozing style. He'll be missed on tour.
