Watch: Dane Reynolds // Bakerz Dozen

Stu Nettle (stunet)
Swellnet Dispatch

Been a while since we've heard anything from the Dane. He's off raising kids, being a papa, running a company, and thank the lord for the path his life took. Can you imagine Dane, for whom authenticity means so much, suiting up for the techno-artifice of Lemoore?

So here's four minutes of him in the ocean, featuring various clips from the last three or so years. He ain't on tour, not even being picked for the various air shows trying to...erm, get off the ground, yet few can tap the gas like him, nor get as high, or as committed across the face. Yet for all that jazz my favourite moment is the very last wave, a two-handed bottom turn (!) that springs him into a lurching double up.

Not much into the music but...

Epic...and finally a decent soundtrack. Makes me want to go surfing but the 1 foot mush out the front has other ideas.

The unique thing with Dane is it doesn't seem to matter what you're into with respect to different approaches to surfing. If you like massive punts or unique style, deep power gouges or precise on edge rail work, barrel riding skills or whatever - it doesn't matter. Guaranteed you just saw something you loved and blew your mind.
Still the man.

Yep great shame we don’t see more of him. Much as the current crop of WSL surfers are great, l would still rather watch Dane. I notice he doesn’t show at any hot tub events. Him and slater were never on the same wavelength.
