Watch: Mason Ho // 5'2" x 19¾"

Stu Nettle (stunet)
Swellnet Dispatch

Eight foot boards when it's pumping, five foot boards when it ain't. There's not too much middle ground with Mason Ho, he's always pushing the extremes in one way or another.

Here he's taken the low road with a clip full of 5'2" quad fish being ridden on the North Shore.

starts out a bit dodgy....for the first 30 seconds i thought he was surfing the middle peak at bronte.

so what's the attraction/adavantages of such a short board? or is it just more of a challenging bit of fun for a highly skilled surfer?

Advantage #1: it might actually fit in the tray of a dual cab ute

Advantage #2: the exposure makes them popular, many sell, and you get any wave you want off the people trying to ride them, using your everyday equipment

Hehe... Nice velocityjohnno
As long as he doesnt show up in a vid riding a SUP... cause then there will be all sort's of clueless idiots out on those... oh, hang on...

lol, that arms race is already out of control; just saw an ad for SUPs during the cricket...

Logical conclusion is people start to bring out 16foot toothpicks and Hawaiian Olos to outpaddle the SUPs... Now I've gone and said it!
