Watch: Mindless, timeless Kirra

Stu Nettle (stunet)
Swellnet Dispatch

First Thursday, then Friday, now right through Saturday, Kirra has had some golden moments and we're kinda losing track of time.

Check our Greenmount cam and Kirra is still doing it, probably as good as it's been this swell.

Good to see a few average punters in there getting their waves of their year/life!

Blue rashie looked kinda JW to me? All those pwc at the start I thought tow in city...but fuck are sooo many skis allowed near the t/o zone, they r a menace.

I know that we had our cyclone fun over here a while ago, but this is getting hard to watch. Need some proper swell again, please!

(Enjoy!)

Experienced the ski crew last year @ The Alley, no manners just pulling up way inside behind the rock (where I couldn't paddle to due to the rip). Had to drop in after they just kept taking all the good ones! What is the PWC rule in the line up? Kirra looks GOLD wish I was up there as its very average here on the Mid Nth coast!

How likely is it that your better than average surfer can go out there when it's like that and realistically score waves? Taking into account crowd and pros that are out whatever etc could you end up getting none?

Has to be photoshoped. Not one drop in.

Realistically, you need persistence, cunning and luck to get a good one. Then you need the skill to ride it.

One good one is worth it.

You can easily do a drift and get doughnuts.

You also get a front row seat to the best show on Earth.

I always went by the adage of luck in numbers. Lots of laps around, don't waste your arms battling the current, take what you get, enjoy the show and watch all the pro's - how they ride the wave, where they sit etc.
You always luck into something decent eventually.

‘Cunning’ that’s a good word and quite different from ‘complete prick’ as that is how a lot of surfers get their waves.

My strategy is to find clear water, let guys paddle up past or ill paddle up ahead to keep my distance as much as possible, that way if you’re lucky enough to be in the spot you’re on! So much luck involved though.

Great to see a clip of regular joe's paddling into some great tubes instead of another sycophantic mad whoever has a sticker dick suck clip, cheating the crew out of waves with their obnoxious petrol machines
