Watch: Matt Dunsmore // Vision

Stu Nettle (stunet)
Swellnet Dispatch

Right then, here's the antidote to yesterday's air-heavy clip of Italo Ferreira. It's low-key buccaneer Matt Dunsmore doing a tour of the A-Grade ledges. Might as well be a different sport to the above the lip version.

Board riding v wave riding. Some people surf to see what they can do to a wave, others surf to see what a wave can do to them. I know which camp I’m in

loved it!

Airs are alright but this clinic on slab surfing is so much more enjoyable to watch for me, so calm in the pit, this type of surfing for me is the pinnacle, sick video !

I’m with u shore dump.

I can’t do airs worth shit either

offshoreozzie Friday, 15 Mar 2019 at 09:36 am new

this hilarity should not fly under the radar! well played

Good surfin...

As for airs we need to change the conversation.

Most airs should be called for what they are: "bunny hops".

So now Pots and Turps can call the following moves:
- bunny hop basic
- bunny hop reverse
- pointless shorebreak bunny hop
- bunny hop into nose dig

faith restored after the last few clips - this one is full of heavy & interesting waves, gutsy surfing under extreme pressure, evidence of failure too, which all = highly motivational

DGW Wednesday, 13 Mar 2019 at 06:38 pm new

loved it as well.

Frog, not Potts can orgasm to 'bunny hop basic'...

Fella hates a pit.

That’s some time well spent.

Hi Guys
Has there been a format change as I cannot see most movie uploads using Chrome or Firefox..... Go figure ; }

stunet Friday, 15 Mar 2019 at 10:35 am new

No change at our end. You restarted your computer?

Anyone else having hassles..?

We tweaked the embed code for YouTube/Vimeo/Insta etc a few weeks ago, to solve an alignment/display issue. This seems to have triggered isolated cases where videos are not playing for some users, though we can't replicate the problem (across a number of OS/browsers) so we're not sure what it is. We're very keen to get to the bottom of it though!

Two questions: (1) does the video play on this link?

(2) what OS system are you using, and do you have any adblockers or similar? Chrome normally solves most problems (every other browser has some kind of intermittent issue) so it may be related to a browser plugin or extension.

Yep, plays for me on Safari and using adblocker

thermalben Thursday, 21 Mar 2019 at 01:17 pm new

Erm, were you having issues before? Just haven't seen you comment prior to now.

jaunkemps Friday, 15 Mar 2019 at 12:18 pm new

Hi Ben
Yes YouTube works fine, maybe its my old Mac OS 10.6.8 that has a weird understanding of new code I guess, never mind eventually Apple will release a new imac still waiting though........
Thanks for the message, cheers W

That was heavy and yes a bit more serious than the skatey stuff of the Brasilian shark sufferer. I haven't seen any clips of the top echelon of zillas taking on really heavy waves and if they have to put a wettie on, well pigs will fly. For such a talented bunch they seem to stick close to home or the circuit.

stunet Friday, 15 Mar 2019 at 02:39 pm new

Lucas Chumbo? Arguably the best big wave paddle surfer in the world.

There are a bunch of extremely good Brazo big wave chargers currently getting around. Think of Rodrigo Koxa, current world record holder for largest wave ridden, and Pedro Calado who's posted a handful of XXL Award nominations for paddle waves.

memlasurf Friday, 15 Mar 2019 at 02:59 pm new

Yeah they are unreal, I mean't the CT guys Stu. Andy, Mick, Slats, etc.. all had a go at places like Shippies and other slabs and JJF will surf anything but seems the zilla CTers don't or maybe I just missed the vids.

Gary G Friday, 15 Mar 2019 at 10:07 pm new

Italo has a crack:

Gary loves Mick but wouldn't use him as an example of a CTer who seeks out heavier waves than many of the Brazilian crew. Most of his back catalogue is overhead right hand point breaks.

Toledo charged a solid fat 8 footer at the bay

shoredump Saturday, 16 Mar 2019 at 06:54 am new

Every year with a group of mates we pick a surfer, in sequence from where you finished the year before last to first. A case of beer each to the winner. I’ve picked up Italo this year, so 11 slabs for me this summer if he comes good.
