Independent surf media only survives with your support
There's no corporate money behind Swellnet - just subscribers who want quality independent surf content to stick around. We've dropped ads for everyone. A subscription is how we keep the lights on.
It's the second day of the swell, the crew are keen to make reparations after Moday's floggings, and that includes the bloke behind the lens. Footage includes Jughead's (dry) rockdance.

For the rock dance 4:45 I saw that on social media, but fuck it gives a different perspective of how heavy this wave really is.
How is it that these guys don't get more seriously hurt more regularly?
Has anyone died here?

No. Kobi Graham broke his back about a decade ago but there's been surprisingly few bad accidents considering how close it is to the rocks. I occasionally hear the Cape described as breaking twenty or so metres off a cliff, but it's not the cliff you need to worry about but the ledge you face while dropping in - it wouldn't even be ten metres away.
Any fall in the early part of the wave means a guaranteed impact.

Another example of tow surfing through paddlers on the east coast? looks like ski is a lot closer than 200m so against the law as well as poor form and a bad example for the kid to learn too

More of the slowmo footage of wonk and wobble, with surfers! That's better.
