Watch: Duranbah today and yesterday

Stu Nettle (stunet)
Swellnet Dispatch

More than a backup venue, D'bah has been centrestage over the last two blasts of south swell, reshaping the rigid long-period lines into luscious aquamarine peaks.

Surfers featured are Jay 'Bottle' Thompson, Hippo, Elle Brooks, Matt Aldridge, Ty Richardson, Max Kearney, and Quincy Symonds. Music by Batz.

Good to see the groms having a crack. Great looking waves. The Snapper/D-Bah combo is pretty epic.

dbah snapper kirra combo... everyone was shitting on the comp this year, yes it was small but it was still contestable in the middle of a big flat spell, and they could have had a contestable final if they werent so greedy.

Crisp winter goodness.
Only about 50 out at first light this morning.

Suggestions for future features:
‘Watch: South Coast point today’
‘Watch: South Oz reef yesterday’

There are four surf cams permanently trained on it, and it's located in the most heavily congested surf zone in Australia, add in constant Instagram hastags and the relentless social media pile on and I don't think this video - free to view but on a paywalled site, and not posted to social media - will make a lick of difference.

Not my spot mate so not too worried. But I think maybe you guys underestimate your influence.

Are you having a laugh?

memlasurf Tuesday, 13 Aug 2019 at 01:54 pm new

Geez if you are worried about over exposure of Duranbah you are in another dimension. That place has been crowded forever.

The Australian Surf Championships are on at D’Bah today.. so I suspect there would have been quite a few competitors out early getting a feel for the surf.

Is it on tomorrow as well ?

frog Tuesday, 13 Aug 2019 at 09:56 pm new

Yes. Will be on next two days. Drive up from sydney, down from brisbane, east from Perth. Fly in from Rio. The peak by the rocks is pretty empty most days.
