Watch: Teenage John John at Chopes narrated by Albee Layer

Stu Nettle (stunet)
Swellnet Dispatch

In 2011, John John followed a swell to Teahupoo with his brothers and some friends from Hawaii. John was 18 at the time, filming for a new project that would eventually become the film 'Done'. Albee Layer was one of the friends who flew down with him, and he also got one of the best waves of the trip.

Listen as Albee recounts that trip to Tahiti.

Featuring John John Florence, Nathan Florence, Albee Layer, and Raimana Van Bastolaer

Incredible to think he was only 18 at the time. He just looks so relaxed in the sketchiest situations.Never get tired of watching a JJF clip.

I wanted some vision underwater of some big wave stuff.

I found real wow factor at around 1,40 mark. Looks so shallow in front then behind from underneath so much ocean behind it. Wow.

CT surfers that hadn't been there when it was big before would have ruined there wetties for sure.

Amazing stuff, so casual in the eye of the storm. I don’t understand why there is never any drone footage showing the whole ride with the exit to kick out shown, does anyone have a link to any?
