Watch: Triangulares - Route

Craig Brokensha (Craig)

Roby D'amico put in the hard yards last winter, travelling the Triangulares Route (Triangle route) around the Mediterranean Sea from Rome to Sardinia and then onto Levanto in the north.

There's some solid surf in the clip and while the waves are only good for one or two sections, it's enough to wet the apetite for any keen surfer. The cold and snowy weather however..

The editing was brilliant. Love the avalanch-esque soundtrack.

I took a 7 week trip through Sardinia, mainland Italy and Sicily in early Spring this year in a camper van. Scored some surprisingly good waves, and more often that you would expect!

I wonder what is the maximum possible swell period for the med.?

Spud, look up 'nomogram swell', and plug in the numbers. My guess would be around 10s.

One thing about the Med is that it's fricken deep! Doesn't take much wind to get a little rideable swell running. Or should I say, little swells keep travelling in the absence of friction.

Back in 2007 when in Bali. I was surfing Ulu, I started chatting to two guys and said what accent is that you have and they said Italian from Sardinia. I said WTF is there surf there and they said Sure is! They gave me their addresses in Sardinia if I ever went over that way and did. Great to have Local knowledge. Surfed some great waves.
