Watch: John John at Margaret River

Swellnet Dispatch

A clip filmed what seems like years ago...

But was actually only six months back, before a throwaway move cut John's season short. A season where the question wasn't whether he'd win the tile, but how soon he'd wrap it up.

Before Hawaii?

Before Europe?

Before Surf Ranch maybe..?

Testament to his domination is that despite being injured for five and a bit events he's still in the top 10.

Also, see image at bottom for event PDF of the Pipe draw as of yesterday with JJF in Heat 8.

How good would it be to see JJF beat Medina in the Pipe Final

Hopefully it happens ! Be ultimate proof JJFLO is the man

I wonder if its possible with the draw.. I guess the seeding round makes any scenario possible.
I'd like to see that heat a little earlier in the comp to allow one of the others the chance to win the title

Good pount dawny. I'd like to see Medina knocked out earlier and maybe Ryan Callinan in the Final

Remember how Wilko had a seamingly unassailable lead?

Wilko: the Australian Jesse Mendes.

The final is going to be 8-10 foot mostly pipe proper and Jeremy Flores is going to cap off a stellar year with a win, then spontaneously announce his retirement on the podium.

Then he’ll chill at his fathers place in New Caledonia , guiding punters and getting insanely pitted .

He will embrace the island life by becoming walnut brown , wrinkled , rotund , blissfully happy and spectacularly apathetic .

Comparing Wilko to JJF? No offence to Wilko, seems a decent bloke but that backhand top turn whip alone, was never going to win a world title. He was punching above with a top 10 finish. JJF is all class in any surf from 2-20ft. 2019 would have been sewn up by Tahiti.

Not seriously, no.
What I meant was that getting off to a flyer is no guarantee of finishing 1st. Even for John John.

John John into the World Cup via wild card.

It was a clip of JJF at Sunset where I first saw him do "the turn". Gonna be great to see him there again. Basically all he has to do is to bust out one "the turn" per wave and he'll win the event.

yeah spuddups. it’s my favourite thing to watch in surfing. jjf doing ‘the turn’ beats anyone doing any manoeuvre anywhere

great clip but I wish they'd quit filming at that spot!

Pretty crazy though, still I’m top 10 after missing more than half the season. Let’s wish for a big pipe and a non Medina title.
