How's the air drop at 2:20! Crikey.
Twas thinking the same.
Makes me feel so inadequate.
At 2 x playback speed that first wave is almost real time - gives you another insight in to just how crazy it was.
Also, Jimi is now in a skiffle band.
Does Mason get a wild card at Pipe comp?
Crazy buggers

Bemmy 3.26???
That's what I thought?!
he just gets better and better and Jim H was a bonus
Side note, great to see Kalani back out at the Pipeline !
and charging.
Almost certainly the best spectator's wave in the world. You wouldn't catch me out there on a day like that for all the tea in China. Much respect to those guys.
Lovin' the soundtrack as well.
Agree Spuddups. Would love to have a swim out there on a smaller day, but christ it looks dangerous at that size. Absolutely nothing about it looks easy.
It’s the crowd just as much as the wave that makes that place heavy. You’d be surfing with 30 or 40 pro level surfers who charge and also know the spot inside out. I’m going there next year so hopefully I’ll get a crack at 3ft or something. 10ft? Forget about it!
Went there nearly 2 years ago for first time. Late season. Certainly not there to surf pipe but I did surf it around 4-5’ early one smaller morning. Wasn’t the best but no one on it so thought now or never. Shoulder hopped a couple and then got a decent one and got rinsed, came up with my step up in two pieces.
All I had left to surf was my standard short board or my 8’0 sunset gun.
A couple of excellent step ups for ‘everday’ surfing does you well over there.
So many other great waves though. Pipe is pretty much a different sport for most mere mortals
I had a similar experience - got there before dawn on a 4-6' day, got rinsed, put my tail between my legs and proceeded to have the funnest surf at Ehukai with nobody out. Plenty of good waves around to suit all levels of competency!
Pffft...shoulder hoppers.
Nice touch with Jimi in the background it was his birthday yesterday. All hail Jimi.
