Watch: HAWINDO

Ben Matson (thermalben)
Swellnet Dispatch

Ryan Williams is one of the quiet achievers of the surf photography discipline. We've been running his images on Swellnet for about a decade now - maybe longer - but Ryan's recently turned his hand to video, and the results are stunning. Spending around half of the year in Indonesia, with the remaining months chasing swells across the rest of the world, Ryan's always in the thick of the action. Check this footage from Hawaii and Indo over the last year and a half.

The contextual foregrounds, the drone shots, the variety, the wipe outs, the endless tubes - brilliant.

Totally agree the foregrounds in the drone footage are perfect - It's probably the first time i have enjoyed the drone perspective. Pulling back for a wider angle in all footage is such a breathe of fresh air and shooting the complete ride. This guy is all over it. Why do so many shooters get it wrong?

How much does that make you want to go surfing!
The ocean will always be a 1000 times better than any wavepool

How is the crowd at at Padang in the distance. That is real context!
