Udo , I use the same C-drive Twins on my personal bds...the quality of the fins coming out of NVS , all G10 , best construction available...everyone should get the G10's NVS fins....

You could be experiencing too much fin, which means, when more pressure/speed is applied to the fin , your weight /board dimensions can't control all the pressure so the fin lifts out of the water.
C-Drives have such a longer base than a normal fin.....even when I was at 95kg's I still used small c-drives....but my hull designs give a loft of lift ( concaves) and drive from very hard edges....
In big guns we have always used smaller fins as big fins feel like they are spinning out , when in actual fact the fin lifts out of the water.....smallest gun fins ever on AB's channel bottoms....hope this helps....send me dims and weight and will be a lot more precise on fin size.

Just thinking that ive maybe reached a ceiling with the quad set up on this board. I've been riding the evo models in the same dims since 2016ish . Had 4 of them haha. Rode it in heavier conditions up to pushy 6ft canguu but fading memories tell me that was on a more upright thruster set up. I'm thinking the c-drives coupled with the actual speed generated by the board design in ballsy waves, produce too much speed ? When im running them in average conditions for the area ( 2-4 ft ) they give me more control, speed and release in every turn. The feeling of generating speed through a turn on these fins are a world away from any other fins ive tried.
Hi Hastoes, been lurking reading the c drive comments so thought I'd chip in...
I've been using them religously a few years love them in 2+1, twin +1s, tris and quads.
Really like the new nvs feel , the different foil makes them seem more responsive and the g10 is sick.
I actually like the quads sized up relative to other guys my size. I'm 5'9 70kgs with chicken legs and my 5'10 kirk bierke has medium fronts with large rears. Incredible control in late drops but its geared towards hollow reefs and i dont/ can't do turns on it lol. Would put smaller fins in for beachies.
6'4 also a kb round tail has medium fronts medium rears. Magic combo for me does tubes and turns.
I've used grom size thrusters in a Ian Byrne 6 channel 6'4, and another chunky 9'6 gun.
Ridden some thrusters with larger side fins and a smaller center too. Not super into thrusters usually but that gives you release if your struggling with that.
Definitely depends on your board like brutus has said and troy is a legend and always has time to dial your fins in. Hope that helps

Yes they became available around the same time or just after the original FCS plugs. Sam Egan made me a couple of boards with them. The fins base was made with a little angled part on them that inserts into the T-shaped plug. They were better than FSC in that the fin didn’t wiggle sideways as much, and if you ran into something the fin could get pushed back out of the plug rather than tearing the plugs out of your board.
Can’t recall what they were called. I think Perry Underwood who lived around Port Macquarie area invented and sold them.

have some coming in the New year....95% of my orders are Futures....but I still use surfinz boxes ( adjustable so I can move my fins around) and so I only use twin tab fins........so I have about 20 sets coming!

A vaguely remember reading that the design must be 10% different to get around patent problems but I don't know if that's true or how you would measure that.
Or make it in China or another country that doesn't care

Yep, Troy knows about them.
You'll also notice the company rips off a number of other fin designs, some of which may not be legally protected, in which case it's theoretically OK to do so, however there's not a single nod or reference to the originators which indicates a shameless vulture at the helm.
Even the name of the company is a rip off.

udo, I was talking to a mate on Saturday who uses these fins (he also has a couple of Cheyne Horans' winged fins)
his take was that the they produce lift and so raise the tail in big fast clean waves and so aren't suited to those types of waves.
but for other waves -- messy, not so fast they are really good.
I ran a fin set a bit like that for a while.
I used an fcs set of twinzer fins and ran them in a round tail quad with the bigs in front.
Went really well.
Interesting indeed. Is there anyone else out there doing that with the rear fins?
BTW, "Twad" is my new favourite.
I wonder how much stress gets put on the bit between the box and the fin proper through a turn.
They look like they would snap on a bigger wave turn…probably ok for small waves.
Had a look and it’s a good read alright…..love seeing people try new things for surfing. I always used to say that one day someone would come up with self tracking fins that follow the arc of the turn.
Those top ones in particular. After losing a fin I'm in the process of putting one of those sets back together.

after a bit of your vast wisdom here , got myself a tiny 5'8 fish for small mushy waves , in 78 kgs and currently have fcs g'3 s in it but find them to lack drive and speed anyone have any suggestions on what would be more suitable fins for speed / drive in small waves , old school fcs plugs in the board tri fin .
help would be greatly appreciated .
