This week and weekend (Apr 1 - 6)

After a fun pulse of S/SW groundswell over the weekend, we're back to small surf today, but there's a couple of good pulses due through this week and into the weekend.

The large blocking pattern that was setup across the Indian Ocean the last week or two broke down somewhat west of WA over the weekend and a couple of strong cold fronts pushed up towards that state, generating two separate pulses of S/SW groundswell.

The first should fill in tomorrow and peak during the afternoon to 4-5ft across exposed locations through eastern Indonesia (smaller from Sumbawa east) before backing off a touch into Thursday ahead of the secondary larger pulse late in the day.

This swell should peak on Friday morning in the 5-6ft+ range across exposed coasts before easing slowly into Saturday and further Sunday.

Winds will be as expected with light and more variable breezes early each morning before moderate to sometimes fresh E/SE trades kick in during the day.

Next week onwards (Apr 7 onwards)

There's only one significant pulse of S/SW groundswell on the cards for next week as a final vigorous polar front pushes up towards WA from the Heard Island region today and tomorrow.

This should generate a very inconsistent but large S/SW groundswell for Tuesday, coming in at 6ft+ across exposed coasts.

Winds look as if they'll go a little funky (but remain variable) as a weak trough moves across the region, but we'll look over this again on Thursday.
