Victoria Forecast (issued Wednesday 25th December)
Best Days: Thursday morning, Saturday morning, early Sunday around Torquay
Recap
Merry Christmas from the Swellnet team! A small mix of swells filled in yesterday across the Surf Coast with 2ft sets on the Surf Coast under morning W'ly winds, while the Mornington Peninsula saw average 3ft waves across the beaches. Winds only tended light to moderate S'ly during the afternoon keeping conditions workable for an afternoon surf.
Today has started off small and clean with a light N'ly wind, but a new SW groundswell fill in during the day and reach an inconsistent 3ft on the Surf Coast and 4-6ft on the Mornington Peninsula into the afternoon. Winds will swing more E'ly during the afternoon, favouring locations east of Melbourne.
This week (Dec 26 - 27)
This afternoon's increase in SW groundswell should ease back through tomorrow and winds should be favourable early and from the N/NW. A shallow S/SW change will move in during the late morning though and freshen into the afternoon.
A fun size increase in W/SW swell is due Friday but it will be spoilt by fresh onshore S/SW winds.
This weekend onwards (Dec 28 onwards)
Saturday will start off fun across the state with an easing W/SW swell and favourable winds that will swing from the N/NE early around to the N/NW ahead of a fresh to strong W/SW change.
Winds will be average and fresh from the SW tending S/SW, but the Torquay region may see an early W'ly.
Both swells will ease into next week but Monday and Tuesday look average with a lingering S'ly wind across Bass Strait. In saying this there should be workable waves across all regions.
Longer term there's nothing too major on the cards so make the most of the coming days of swell.
