he's a champ, Occy, Parko , Micky they all do it, but I don't blame em and they're fast enough so i don't run over them when they drop on my wave.
this is exactly the problem. because they are good surfers, people look up to them, let them get away with being cunts, and overlook their poor behaviour as humans. just because they have more ability than the next person, does not give them any more right to a wave. imagine a bunch of kids playing footy in the park, and a nrl squad rocks up and takes over the park with their own game. imagine the media uproar. just because the nrl players are champs, wouldnt give them any more right to that park.

Yeah i agree heaps of those pros surfers as good as they surf are just drop in pricks, don't know if i was lucky, but surfed with Rob Machado last year and he was the exact opposite, exactly how he is perceived super mellow and respectful sharing waves but still managed to get the best ones somehow and surfed with complete style.

The place is a fucking mass orgy of disrespectful wankers. The wave itself is amazing, but good luck getting one of them. If you do I'd head straight in and get a beer and regal the surf club with your story cause you wont get another. More often than not you'll leave the surf swearing off the place and become a bitter old bastard saying something along the lines of "back in my day....."

Had a 2 hr surf wide of the rock & bagged 8 waves, this 59 yr old happy with that. You have to surf the place with the attitude of “take no prisoners” but don’t be an arsehole, hard for some. Definitely have to have your fitness about you, meaning you when no waves you swim, paddle,exercise etc etc, or you get left behind! Watched Parko get 3 barrels, 1 an epic cavern so deep, even he was surprised he made it out & didn’t the crowd erupt, nearly worth the paddle in itself. That flogging at 1:50 was one of many, great for entertainment while waiting “ your turn”.....lol.

Surprised to see all the comments about the pros dropping in. Why don,t you drop right in back on them ? If that doesn,t work have a quite discussion post surf about it. If you let someone walk all over you they will keep doing it.

It's way past time for surfers to unite and stop this fuckwit behaviour. Until WE (recreational surfers) are prepared to speak up and call out this fuckwit behavior, the antics will continue.

Everytime I've been to the GC on a family holiday I have had heaps of waves, especially once it gets a bit of size about it and the sweep starts running hard. You guys up there are blessed with amazing waves and hardly anything goes unridden because they generally line up all the way down the point. If you can't get a wave up there you need to look at your own surfing rather than whinging about pros dropping in. They all do it all over the world. Yes, some are worse than others. I don't agree with it but it is just them flexing their ego's. Come down south and try getting a wave on reef break with a take off zone the size of a picnic blanket with 50 guys jostling for a position. Getting a wave at greenmount will seem like walk in the park in comparison.
If a pro (or anyone for that matter) blatantly burns you, just calmly go up to them and say you're going to burn them back. Then just wait until they are really locked in to an absolute hooter and then go.
If they complain, just say "you're nothing special and if you drop in on me again the payback comes with interest. Balls in your court mate".
One more thing, let's not tar all pros with the same brush. Some of them are absolute gentlemen (and ladies) in the water.

Been watching the snapper cam a bit, i don't get the drop ins, fair enough 2 guys paddling and both take off and then the guy on the outside pulls off.
But guys are just dropping in 20m or more along the wave, its just so blatant, do they go oh this guys a kook ill just drop in on him? Or stuff this iv'e been waiting for ages I'm going lol.

We had a situation down our way where a blow in blatantly burnt a girl in the water and then verbally abused her. It was right down the line in a quiet area, and our "hero" thought he'd be the big tough guy, singling out a girl by herself.
I checked on her welfare and she was pretty upset, but I said don't go in and let that bastard win. We will look after you.
After letting a few other locals know what just happened, the dickhead never got another wave by himself and the girl got called into some great ones.
If there aren't consequences, dickheads will keep being dickheads.
Great story, nice to hear the true spirit of surfing still exists...I once called an old bloke into a wave that was mine to take on a crowded sunny coast day because I noticed he wasn’t getting any. The smile on his face when he paddled back out is the only thing I remember from that day.
