"Lost Track New Zealand" takes you on a journey of a lifetime through the remote wilderness of New Zealand in search of perfect waves and life long memories.
Torren Martyn and film maker Ishka Folkwell embark on a three month motorbike adventure into the depths of this great southern land. After carefully customising Royal Enfield motorcycles to carry surfboards and all the essentials, Torren and Ishka battle the elements as they ride through storms, coming unstuck a couple of times while also experiencing moments of bliss, all on a quest to escape into nature and ride perfect waves.
Ishka captures Torren’s timeless surfing against the backdrop of one of the most beautiful landscapes on earth. Set to an original soundtrack composed by Headland and Nick Bampton. Lost Track New Zealand allows you to ride along on an epic adventure and reminds us that although life has its highs and lows, if you can ride those waves you'll always find contentment in a deep connection with nature and the ocean.

Great movie - well worth viewing - but these guys are next level on getting away from it all ... it’s lucky we’re all different ‘cause in the end the amount of quality surf they seem to get vs the rigours they put themselves through Just doesn’t make sense to me - but I liked watching them - more pls from Torren and Ishka - lives all their stuff
I'm planning on doing a NZ trip in the next couple of years, albeit with a girlfriend, so I loved it. I like all his stuff though; give me an original over something that's been done to death any day of the week. They did go really rough which is a good change up from the modern day princess type surfer. Sleep in the dirt, wake up and charge. Repeat.
Was crazy to see some of their choices of camp spots though. Sometimes they didn't even try and get out of the wind and rain!
Great film! I could almost feel the cold with them at some of those South Island locales.
Reminded me of those Ewan McGregor motorbike trips across Europe and Africa except with the added bonus of surfing, Also appreciated the authenticity as in it's not always pumping waves and easy living so you just make the most of where you are.
I know what it's like to be on the road for long periods in the cold when your wetty is never dry and your only 'shower' is in the surf. Can be uncomfortable but makes you appreciate some of the little things in life like a good feed and a warm sleeping bag.
got to admit, I love watching torryn do his thing but freezing cold sheep paddocks did nothing for me and I skimmed through it looking for quality waves.

I have done a couple of shorter length trips in a Van (pussy I know) and got some really good waves. maybe they are choosing not to showcase the good waves in their video... which would be the first case of negative exploitation of a surfing area via a video I have ever seen...
They could have got much better waves if they'd concentrated on Raglan, Taranaki, Mahia and The Far North. I don't think that was their bag though. Good on 'em I say.

There were some nervous moments watching first the trailer, then the whole thing, but our spots were not outed. Phew!
In general, I thought it was as non-exploitative as you could hope for.
Hats off for doing it on bikes and in shit weather.

Nope, but heard some rumours. And there are scenery shots from around here.
I enjoyed this film. It looks like they were searching for more than just waves, which is the whole point of visiting NZ I guess. If you want good waves then you're probably better off heading to Indo, however if it's adventure you're after then NZ's your place. You'll get to experience things you can't see in Australia. Glaciers and active volcanoes for example.
I can't figure out why they didn't start in the South while the weather was warm then finish in the North as it got colder. Mid winter in the Far North is not much different to summer in the deep south.
Like Island Bay said, I'm glad they didn't blow up our local, although as he said they used the scenery from our area right through the entire film.
I'll tell you a little story about the deep south. The first time I went down there, (1992) we were rolling though town for the first time after driving down the island. This guy walked out in-front of our car and flagged us down. Basically he was pretty much the only local surfer and wanted someone to go surfing with. For the next few weeks he showed us all the spots. Good times.

Best film I've seen in a long time, really captured the essence of the long haul adventure surfing, character building and culture embracing, Guy fuckin rips too. Grateful for the way they mixed the spots up as well. ( some SI waves in the NI section and visa versa brilliant). Made me wanted to go on the hunt again.

Every film I see of NZ South Island they seem to end up at the same spots.

Lots to find down there Freeride. I guess some of the more bankable spots are not always crowded and make for good scenic film content. With a lot to see do you really go hunting or just pick the low hanging fruit. Also swell directions, depending on what time of year your there.
Had a laugh with some mates about how these guys would have had a much more pleasent trip in a van. The only spot they couldn't have got to was the inland one. The season too, way to pick a grueling time for a motorcycle trip.

I can see why why they didnt film raglan as the place is a fucking joke for crowds of muppets as are most North island spots these days.
The deep south is gnarly raw , cold as fuck , huge pointers and sea lions, kelp like you wouldnt believe and the sandflies trying to bite your eyeballs. Trees grow sideways its that windy. Bumped into Brad Gerlach down those ways 20 plus years ago doing lone wolf missions, sick cunt was shred lording the point we were surfing.

Loved it! The surfing, scenery, cool tracks, cinematography, everything. Really cool vid, hard to fault. I'm surprised Patagonia haven't picked these two blokes up.
On a personal note, I can't say a bad thing about NZ. It's a wonderful country and you have to start with the people. Great folk, nice waves, delicious food and spectacular scenery.
To use a cheesy analogy- if Australia was the tenderloin then NZ has to be the petit fillet.
Love watching that man surf, but is good to see that he doesn’t stick every take off & make every barrel, he is human. You can keep that weather my friends all to yourselves
Yeah, I'm certain that these two wanted to show warts and all when it came to surf footage too. I think it made viewing so much more relatable and heavy to a degree; it's just him out there with ishka well away, clip to the head and it's lights out and then what? Every surf film we see is always footage of the makes and perfection which is not even close to reality. Really good watch.

Just waiting for travel restrictions to lift, so I can get back over to the Land of the long white cloud. Nip down to the batch on the south island, to enjoy the unreal beauty of the landscape, people and waves. Love the place.

Give me that over look at me I’m von froth any time of the day. They showed great respect in virtually giving away nothing. Even the map that pops up at the end that they have written on only shows a small section of the west coast of the north island, no doubt intentional. You have to work at scoring in NZ, long may it remain that way. It’s always windy, wet and cold down south, why would ya bother...
spent most of my twenties in the deep south between snow and surf, if the place had warm water it would be over run. Its a playground second to none.
One of the few locations in the world where you can realistically ski and surf in the same day.
I've snowboarded the morning here in Japan and paddled out for the arvo in the same day a couple of times.

Overall, disappointing film lots of weather and mishaps designed to show what exactly?
NZ is an unbelievable beautiful country and you can get pretty remote without riding down creek beds, beaches or mud to your knees roads likewise for remote "me and my mate surfs". Man, the waves I have seen there without seeing another board for days .... there are truly extreme remote waves to be had but not by bike and more by rubber ducky ... enough said.
