Head-high waves that double in size down the line.
A sandbar that's here today and washed away tomorrow.
Watch the bros Florence and friends make hay over sand.

I was just thinking that too, although the wave provided most of the slop and the slap that day...

Reckon it's the result of sun protection as an afterthought. Trying to rub cream onto already wet skin.

Go pro in mouth. Ruins the clip from land, and rarely does the footage look good anyway. Besides that, very good.

Reminds me of Rabbit Hill around Yallingup area. Just as deadly sucking, slamming closeouts.

Agree, also has a bit of Mooloolaba shorey on a big ENE swell. Fun a lid as a young bloke not on my backhand as an old bloke!
The double up @ 2.45 does it for me.

what is the technique for bailing on a wave (whilst in the barrel) with a lip that thick?

Dive down where you think the lip will impact. By the time you get there wave has moved forward and you twist n go back under wave

How quick on his feet is he? Amazing.
The amount of sunscreen could have bought him a rashie. I hate piling on sunscreen.

I can confidently say I would make none of those drops.....
I tried surfing a rip bowl which was about a quarter of that intensity......every time pitched into the flats

Like Joey said.
Everyone knows super-sucking-rip-bowls are like 'black runs'.
It's just that the pros like JJF make them appear green.

I love seeing waves like this surfed well, but also admit to enjoying seeing surfers at this level getting flogged a little more. Oh, to be 23 and bullet-proof again.

Notwithstanding JJF's undoubted ability, all I can think about is spinal injuries. Maybe I'm just getting old or more risk averse, or both!
