Watch: Robo grovels like a boss

Stu Nettle (stunet)

Raised among the heaving reefbreaks of SW WA, Robo has had to teach himself to grovel in feeble beachbreaks.

As this video shows, he knows how to keep the intensity high when the waves aren't.

carve at 1:52 - looks like he has latched onto JJF's full rail line - finally somone else that might match him for big carves...

batfink Saturday, 20 Mar 2021 at 09:43 am new

Yep, noticed that plastic, love that turn, and you’re right, very JJF.

Remigogo Thursday, 18 Mar 2021 at 11:52 am new

Jeez... board wax or super glue?

What ever he is riding working well too.

batfink Saturday, 20 Mar 2021 at 09:50 am new

Made me go and check Arakawa surfboards, didn’t know they did boards for grovel waves but sure as hell they do.

Do these guys drop these beachie edits to keep relevant in the minds of the Woz judges?

jetson.rover Friday, 19 Mar 2021 at 01:34 am new

Well that dispels the myth he doesn't have the goods in the piddlier stuff.
If he doesn't do well in those kind of waves on tour it'll obviously be because he doesn't have the competitive savvy in comps yet compared to some of the others, not because of his talent at all.

jasper99 Friday, 19 Mar 2021 at 08:50 am new

Glad to see someone smashing the end of a wave with a big belt rather than a air reverse all the time.Nice point of difference

Another W.A stylemaster with power to burn and a tube riding freak.

2nd the extra points for the Buttholes

evosurfer Saturday, 20 Mar 2021 at 09:08 am new

IF anybody had doubts about Jacks ability to surf rubbish waves I think this
exhibition should dispel that myth. This guy is definitely the real deal and in
reality is Australias number one contender for a world title.

jetson.rover Saturday, 20 Mar 2021 at 01:17 pm new

Talentwise he is but he still hasn't actually started his contest career as a CT surfer yet apart from 1 event.
10 years ago they were talking up Julian Wilson the same way and that's come to nothing on the Aussie world title count and would be near the backend of his window of opportunity now.
Hopefully Robbo will be a quick learner of contest strategy and has that determined drive in the vein of Slater,Medina,Fanning etc.
If he does for sure he'll win world titles in the coming years.

batfink Saturday, 20 Mar 2021 at 09:52 am new

He’s a force of nature, no doubt. I’m with you Evo, top of the pile for Aus surfers most likely to win a world title, if that thing ever gets off the ground.
