I always ask myself - why ?

adambol1 Tuesday, 23 Mar 2021 at 04:49 pm new

All that and the water is so cold its hard

I thought so too but the density diff is bugger all apparently. 4/10ths of 1 percent from freezing to 30º. I reckon that water temp to be about 12º.

Halfway through I thought to myself how back in the day you always saw Mark Matthews in these clips before his shocking injury. Nek minnit..

I wonder how his foot is after his injury. Didn't think I'd see him out in waves like that again. Maybe being strapped in helps.

I always wonder what happens to your legs if you wipeout and can't get your feet out the straps. I reckon every ligament would be ruptured at least.

This time I think the soundtrack suited the footage. It was nauseating

Nightmarish. That shelf must be ugly for it to have all those folds in it and I was waiting for a goofy to see how they would negotiate it - not very well.

All our rare local spots cranked that day. Was epic. It was the end of the boat shed at the end of a point.

ONE MAD MOMENT

One mad moment captured in time
One crazy wipeout to a ride so sublime
One frozen moment held in suspension
Like hitting the pavement, with no prevention

Such are these 'hellmen', caught in my lens
Captured on film, to share among friends
No room for error as one sets a line
Aware of the terror, it's hard to define

Such is a surfer, who has balls of steel
Taking these mountains, that seem so surreal
Putting their life on the line, on every drop
But they never resign, they take it and cop

The full brunt of Mother nature in all her fury
Not knowing your fate, there's no trial by jury
They'll back there tomorrow, take it on again
Beg, steal or borrow, They just wear the pain

That shippies deals out, to those who may falter
It leaves you no doubt, and there's no time to alter
Once you take it, you are totally committed
No way to fake it, you're flogged or your pitted

So until the next time, with your fear and aggression
Falling's your crime and you learnt the hardest lesson
