Watch: Maps of Home // Extended Cut

Well haven't we been spoiled on the webs this week?

Yesterday, Episode 2 of Lost Track Atlantic dropped amid much anticipation, and today John John reaches for the cutting room floor, giving life to a few waves that didn't make the final edit of Maps of Home.

See Kohl Christenson's mighty effort at 2:30, a wave not dissimilar to his 2011 Cloudbreak effort. Jamie Sterling, Twig, Healey, and a few others, also get waves that have so far been unseen.

Wow those waves look insane almost like they aren't real and those guys are changing it like it's just another day pulling into big barrels they know they won't likely make.

Oh to surf like John for just a session, he's incredible.

Jono Wednesday, 9 Jun 2021 at 09:14 am new

Kohl so close, just couldn't quite hold that edge.

Craig Wednesday, 9 Jun 2021 at 11:05 am new

So, so clean and perfect!

Plasticspastic Wednesday, 9 Jun 2021 at 11:47 am new

Mind blowing!
Big wave surfing has gone way beyond what I ever dreamed could be done!
These guys are awesome.

That’s twice now that Kohl has lost his rail in xxl wave of a lifetime barrels. Wonder if he’s spewin?

I feel like JJF's wave or Koa's should've won wave of the winter. These guys are pushing boundaries on pretty difficult waves. I've heard the lineup is quite rippy so even staying in position for the good sets is hard. A shame JJF didn't make that beast of a wave too!

My mind cant even fathom the shit going down at the 6:00 mark. Its like thinking about the edge of space - it kind of makes my mind backfire. The sound? The scale? The speed? Insane level of physical prowess, art, skill, courage. Beautiful stuff.

tango Thursday, 10 Jun 2021 at 02:36 pm new

Yep.
And then imagine your tail starting to slide on the highline at 60kmh......

velocityjohnno Thursday, 10 Jun 2021 at 05:20 pm new

That was awesome.

evosurfer Thursday, 10 Jun 2021 at 05:52 pm new

How John John wasnt awarded wave of the winter for that gigantic
30ft tube perfectly surfed in front of Slater was a absolute travesty
of the highest order. Just goes to show how corrupt every thing is.

goofyfoot Thursday, 10 Jun 2021 at 06:15 pm new

What you reckon Mark Healey paid the judges off? How is it corrupt?
But yes I do agree with you he should of won.

evosurfer Thursday, 10 Jun 2021 at 10:31 pm new

Goofyfoot im not sure why you would say that but twist it how you like.
I just dont understand how they could give it to somebody could of
been pretty much anybody with surfing credentials or hot underground surfer with the standard heavy barrel out at big perfect pipe. Those amazing waves are ridden like that every perfect pipe day. That wave of JJ I can not recall anything like that except maybe that day at giant cloud break years ago.

goofyfoot Thursday, 10 Jun 2021 at 10:35 pm new

I just didn’t get what you meant by corrupt? Not trying to twist anything evo...
Like I said, I agree jjf should of won for sure mate
