After a few days downtime the surf cleaned up and the comp started again. Amongst other things, see John John pull back, Bethany and Moana charge, and Pipe get threaded by those most committed to her.

If JJF pulled back, no one could’ve made it. Great comp. A couple of the girls having a fair crack too. Dare say, more great waves ridden on day 3 then we’ll see during the whole WSL event in a few weeks.

Amazing footage. Bethany Hamiltons wave still blows me away. I wonder if there's things she could teach us mere mortals about efficient paddling. Not to forget that she's a mother of 3 kids. How many mums of small children consider stuffing themselves inside a first reef Pipeline death slab. One of the most incredible things i've ever seen in surfing i reckon. Phil Toledo, a renowned Pipe barrel dodger could do alot worse than hitting up Mr's Hamilton for some tips on mental approach to charging Pipe. (note no one ever talks about Toledo and equal pay)

A friend that had a boat charter business in mentawi had Bethany on one trip. He reckons he learnt so much watching her approach to catching waves and he’s been surfing up there for 20 years and charges .

Backhand sideslip pigdogging into an absolute bomb. Fins disengaged before pulling up into a big cavern. Wasn't super deep but beyond critical.
