Even when I didnt know whether Oscar was boy or a girl, I thought he was a really good surfer. He surfs better than you and me Rusty . I'm not sure who he is cloning , but jeez it will be interesting to see where he goes . Seems to be pretty sponnoed. Got the moves with style. I'll be watching. Yo.

Didn't seem to be trying to be a mini Craig Ando in this edit as much as past ones.
I know I'm not the target demographic, but I actually really enjoyed that.
I can't quite put my finger on it, but there was something just a little bit different about it which hooked me in.
Yeah same. There's a sense of humility which flows like a red thread through the interviews and the surfing. And some of the footage provides a sort intimacy to the whole thing, a little glimpse into his inner world of surfing. I know its an ad but its particularly well done.
Yep, nice. Mixes up his craft, stylish but not overly contrived. Just needs a f'ing haircut and access to a razor. Good to hear Cat Power on a soundtrack too.

I'm not a fan, kid seems too focused on being hip and not sure why he rides high-performance boards with his style of surfing.

no I don't, his repertoire is very standard, apart from barrel-riding, it could all be done on a twinny, and doing high-lines on a shortboard just looks silly.

That backhand is so relaxed it belies how rad it really is . Over-vert and you hardly notice it . Comparisons will be made but I reckon Oscar rips .

Tip for the cameraperson: keep the camera still.
Tip for the surfer: learn to speak English, learn to string a few sentences together.
Otherwise, not a bad short film.
So nice to watch someone his age concentrate on style and flow and from memory not an air reverse in sight.....

Good call. I watched this and knew right away the fella was gunna cop some shit. But just like the man said above.... his 18... i reckon if he keeps his head on he'll be a wise young/old man regardless of how he surfs which wont be that important anyway. good onya mateeeee!!! just enjoy...and.....he gets to have coffee with Adalita!!!!.. .

Nice vid. The kid rips and has a great style-it’s obviously his own adaptation of surfing he enjoys seeing. Also love the chilled demeanour with the underlying don’t give a fuck what other people think juxtaposition.

I was interested that he didn't have much footage of A-grade waves in there. In the main, they were the sort of waves we can all relate to, and he still tore the bag out of it while looking like he was hardly breaking a sweat. I'd like to see how he goes in some serious, flawless, overhead stuff. I see he was just over in Kandui.......mmmmmm. Matter of fact, I'd love to surf some serious, flawless, overhead stuff myself...
