24th May was a huge day at The Office with, among others, John McGroder (red board and hat), Bronson Meydi, and Maya Gabeira (5:00 min mark).
Brilliant filming by both David Biner (Indo Eye) and Spencer Whiting (Gimbal God).

Looks so tempting doesn't it?! I chatted to a dude post-big swell once, and he said he'd caught a huge roll in there and said: "best wave of my life and I will never do it again" haha.

I kooked one on a big day and slipped my bottom turn and got sucked up and over the falls and detonated, board was obliterated, copped the next 4 on the head, tried to swim only to stuck in the rip so swam down to the next reef and beached myself on dry reef to vomit up the Indian Ocean……good times……

Nice story! We had it smoking once - touch under that size - but a few of those double ups came through and had you scratching for the channel. Old mate at 3:51 - I cant even imagine what he copped after that close out. Knowing that at some point you have to get across the surgeons table.....looks tasty but freakin hairy. I have absolute respect for the crew taking off late on those bombs.

I should add that after I made it to the beach a little village kid came up with my board pieces asking if he could keep it ……. In between vomit and some tears I might have not been very polite…..that board is probably still in use and patched up and going strong

Only been to HT's once.
it was dead flat. Not a ripple, not even a hint of a breaking wave.
With a light onshore wind on it.
Always spins me out seeing it like this.

Arguably, it's an even bigger spin out when it's breaking and you take stock of which way you're facing.

And to think that swell has to refract a full 180degs. It's a freak of nature that place.

Stu. Am i correct by saying the swell partly bounces of the Sumatran mainland, as we know it likes a west offshore but the coast faces east, do remember when cruising the mid channel between both masses of land that you’d see currents going in all directions. Would be interested if you could shed more light on this topic. Thanks

I just came back from 9 days at Ht's, left the week before this day. The winds have been super funky this year and the name Ht's - Hopefully Tomorrow got thrown around a bit. Beautiful spot, though this years LaNina is making for lots of onshore days unfortunately.

Had Lances Right primo 4-6ft with Scuzz’s boat Budyadahri twice in 2008 and again in 2010, its like no other wave youll ever surf again. The mind travels there often this time of year. Bravo to these boys.
