Watch: Big Nias - Part 2

Picking up where we left off...

The second day of last week's Indo swell saw similarly slack winds at Lagundri Bay, and a relaxed crowd too.

Balint Hambalko, the fella behind Surf Raw Files, was in the water to film it. His footage is augmented by drone work and offset by natural sounds - no soundtrack - the whole package making for a hypnotic, lo-fi, and thoroughly enjoyable offering.

That was cool azz......less is best......

All it was missing was some shaky camera action from the beach and some interviews with the surfers about what surfing means to them........... throw in a progressive/electro soundtrack, should finish it of nicely.

Would someone refresh my memory as to why the right in the background and the left at the eastern side of the bay is either unsurfable or rarely surfed? or has that changed? Cheers aye

The right is shallow AF! very borderline surfable

Water depth..

Gilligan the right in the background used to be surfed, its apparently similar to shark island but coral but since the quake uplift is even shallower needing new moon hightides i think. There's a left inside the bay that used to pump too but is now rarely surfed..the point at nias is one of the few waves to benefit since the quake.
