Watch: The Last Word On Teahupoo in May

Reels

Though it happened two weeks ago - the 28th and 29th May - this edit is the best and most comprehensive footage from the Teahupoo paddle swell. Surfers' waves are edited together, and the filmer had the best seat in the channel.

Good to see a few laybacks being thrown into the Teahupoo mix.

Footage and editing by Marcus Rodriguez (MROD MAUI)

PS: Weather watchers will have noted the coming period in Tahiti, with three swells of similar size stacking up on the charts.

Can't see too many CT'ers wanting to draw Matahi as a wildcard...

Wow how's the first 30s!

Absolutely nuts, Kelly's first wave how he drifts up high in the barrel.

Gabe? He's pretty handy out there.

Geez, that Gilbert Teave dude is only 16yo and toying with big Chopes!

freeride76 Wednesday, 15 Jun 2022 at 04:04 pm new

God I hope we see pumping Chopes this year.

And Kelly's wave was a 10, all day every day.

That was amazing, imagine the competition to get a good wave - intense

From my limited experience out there, it's very well regulated.

When it's your turn, and you are in the slot, everyone knows.

mredhill Wednesday, 15 Jun 2022 at 04:41 pm new

These guys are on another level, so relaxed, imagine trying to get a wave with that crew.

It's a fine line between pleasure and pain.

Can really see the ones which allow the easier entry up the reef and the thicker more west ones in regards to the take off in this vid. Good to see the other riders waves, any local boogies Manea Fabisch goes hard. Bloody good wave if you can get one. looking forward to whats ahead..
