Intrepid surfer Kepo Acero teams up with Naxto Gonzalez in search of perfect empty waves.
What they find is a shallow, hollow left running down a quiet corner somewhere along the African coast.

Onya Craig. We need to collectively shame these narcissistic Influenza's before they vlog about every quiet corner in the country.
Broadcasting yourself camping illegally, flying drones in National Parks and exposing and namedropping some of the quiet corners all for some views.
Nothing wrong with a leave no trace stealth overnight sneaky camp to save a buck here and there but filming yourself doing it, exposing the location by drone shot and encouraging +50,000 viewers to do the same should be a capital offense in my biased ill-informed opinion.
Feel free to forward their details and videos of their non-compliance to the relevant local councils or National Parks around the country as I have after some of their other videos.

I haven't crushed anything, they were out there and had the time of their lives.
There's just no need to put up drones and video showing very distinguishable coastal features and islands, hence exposing a very sensitive, fragile area.
It's one of the last quiet areas and I feel we should do our best to keep it that way. A recent trip I was astounded to find 30 cars and 40 people in the middle of nowhere, like a mini-festival there for a swell. We go to these places to escape, not to battle with the hoards.

It was only a handful of years ago that clowns like this were claiming it was too far, too remote and too hard to ever get crowded.
Those “young kids” took a steaming dump on the surfer’s code because it didn’t suit their YouTube aspirations. Don’t drop in, don’t snake, don’t expose the spot, don’t show photos or instructions of quiet locations. It’s not rocket science.

But when they film it and turn it into a business model then that's something else again, because as sure as the sky is blue the crowds will follow and that wilderness will soon be no more.

I thought you needed salt Water flour in bread. Their region most certainly has heavy locals both politically and surfing related. Big crowds in the water at some spots. You can feel it before you even hit the water in certain euro towns. They used to burn out cars in some places. Like they used to do in some parts of Nsw and Wa, Pretty nuts. The euros are somewhat hot blooded in regions. Like anywhere. Beautiful place though. And if you like food you can't go wrong. Shame about the Aussie dollar but it can still be done. And relatively peacefully too if you take your manners. Very lucky to be able to access other countries with relative ease from their region. North or south.
That other vid should be removed if the local crew are not happy. They have to pick up the fallout long after the young crew have moved on. I can see why they are disappointed. Not much of an understanding of how certain area's work. Maybe approach them before they piss the wrong crew off. Do they even know that it's an issue for crew they are pretty young and pretty stoked. And maybe not aware of the deal or the local culture in some areas Australia wide. Educate positively if possible. Could save them a whole heap of heart ache. I had my car trashed in Wa due to anonymous localism. I did nothing wrong other than to surf the wrong (remote) spot on my own on the wrong day with no cameras. As did other crew on other occasions. They are going to blow Wa out on their way north. Especially after the article on illegal camping in the north west. I think it's good that local crew are showing concern for the impacts in their areas as anywhere. I believe they have a right to voice it too. Just as people have a right to travel lightly. Happy travels

Apologies again for the other day Campbell. I Totally misinterpreted you. As is easy to do on these forums some times. I understand yours and others frustrations. And the other side of the coin.
I have made a few comments lately in regards to travelling light. Understanding and respecting a local and environmental scenes where ever it is. Be it's one of trip or a few seasons of return. Lighten the footprint and leave some of the joy of discovery for others. Or even just maintain the charm of various parts of Australia for others.
People either get it or they don't. Don't draw what is basically a digital mud map for others of what is some crews local haunt. It does no one favours. Surfing or not. City to bush. Australia wide. Happy travels. And look after what you've got.

What I've read of mike hunts posts. Is that he hates dickhead behaviour. Nothing wrong with calling people out when needed. If more people did it on certian issues. Some behaviour would be less of an issue on many areas of concern worldwide. Can't fault that.
Allot of people remain silent in the face of bad behaviour when it's happening that they could express positive concern or advice against. You can't know if you don't know and often it comes back to simple education and basic respect for others. throughout many aspects of life.
I'm not going to rock up in Hawaii and start inflaming things because they would most likely tell me to pull my head in. Just as mike hunt does just like anywhere. I don't always see resistance as a negative and their are always two sides to the coin. Happy travels.

Those videos of the tourists influenzas traveling through SA, no idea, happy go lucky kooks. droning near endangered bird species habitats, blowing one of the last little surfing coves that has not been on the tourist route before.
This just happened: A sign of things to come,
A van parked in my local surfbreak carpark
for 24hrs and after they left I noticed they left behind (from right there under the Van !) the most disgusting looking human faeces I ever seen. It looked like licorice / black paint / plastic. It took a while to believe it was even shit, sure didn't look like it! ( Yep I'm traumatized to have seen it.)
The car park they slept in has the New-ish reconciliation monument devoted to a massacre of indigenous people's too. Next time people try camping there overnight etc (they won't be doing that again if I can help it.) These ways of travelers is despicable. They need to be told our surf break carparks are not public toilets, we (surfers etc) will not allow this mess they have left - dirty arse-holes.

Capt Cook, when he landed in Oz, ordered this military 'men' to shoot a few locals to teach them about guns v's spears.
Spanish fleets of mercenaries did the same in the America's.
Dutch invaded East Indies & Africa,
Indo's massacres in Timor & Papua,
Russia bombing in Ukraine, etc.
There are less real locals on the planet now, than ever.

adjective: entitled /ɪnˈtʌɪt(ə)ld/
believing oneself to be inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment.
eg. "kids who feel so entitled and think the world will revolve around them"
verb entitle past tense: entitled; past participle: entitled /ɪnˈtʌɪt(ə)l,ɛnˈtʌɪt(ə)l/
eg. give (someone) a legal right or a just claim to receive or do something.
Overcoming a Sense of Entitlement
If you find you have a sense of entitlement, there are ways to change your mindset. Practicing gratitude and humility can help you become more responsible and considerate. If you’re trying to overcome an entitlement mentality, start with the following tips.
The golden rule. Practice treating others as you would like to be treated. Regardless of social status, we are all human.
Recognize that not all situations are unfair. If you’re in a situation you think is unfair, pause for a minute and think about the greater good.
Respect. Use respect and kindness when interacting with others. Everyone is a human being with feelings and struggles of their own. Go easy on others. Be sympathetic to their needs.
Learn from your mistakes. Treat failure as a learning tool. Failing isn’t the end of the world. Mistakes that were made can be corrected next time. Never stop learning, and look for value in failure.

Bird I like your ideas regarding atttudes of entitlement. Care and gratitude all the way. Victim playing and victim blaming are other issues that sprang to mind reading your post. It's a complex world but so simple in many regards. All the more worthy of the greater good and care. We are after all the lucky ones. From past days to future ones. Kindness don't cost a thing.

Yeah. You’ve got no idea why anyone would want to keep one of the few quiet surf spots quiet. No idea at all. Because you’ve got a quiet spot in Indonesia. Well mate, fingers crossed that when you return to your quiet spot there’s not 40 frothing dickheads turning the place into a circus after wannabe YouTube megastars started using it at a means to sell advertising.
Then you might get an inkling about the situation of which everyone else in the world of surfing is all too painfully aware.

And sad to say, it’s coming. Unfortunately it’s true enough that as I type this there is some low bastard somewhere plotting to ruin a quiet surf zone somewhere and they’ll sooner or later get around to killing them all. Including the one spot you foolishly believe it won’t happen to.

I liked the Kepa Acera video but ive always liked his surfing and attitude. Guess since hes a pro free surfer he has to blow out spots which is a shame but part of the deal of having that as a job. Mick Fanning blew out P pass about 15 or so years ago, didnt hear anyone complaining about that, or all the sik joy, young gun, sept sessions videos etc that blew up the ments.
Still glad the Kepa vid seems hard to work out where it is unless some knob on youtube comments says it.Im more interested in waves like that than Blacks in SA these days.My mate here says Blacks is the heaviest wave he has surfed and its fucked his back after one wave everyone called him into.

Can’t believe the amount of people complaining on here, throwing around the word narcissistic and entitled. If you are complaining about other people doing something that is completely in their rights to do so, you are the narcissist and entitled thinking no one can share “your” spot. I highly doubt anyone in this thread is a First Nation person so stfu and get off your own dicks. It’s a human right to be able to travel freely, photograph any public place, and do what you want with that. we don’t live in North Korea so get over yourself and appreciate what you have while you have it. You’ll never be a happy person if a video upsets you

Fuck you nachos and kooko , heavy local cunts at their home break then expose everything they can in other places
Go take a look at the Bukit and to a lesser extent NW WA ( but not far off these days) and see what surfers have become...
Kooks in and out of the water
Social media , the new plastic ,fucking the ocean for everyone
You’re not related to Mikehunt by any chance?
Not sure what that means Goofy ?
Those vloggers above ......
Would have been met with a shotgun20 yrs ago
So sad to see that stuff and think about what it results in , nothing is sacred it would seem
Mikehunt is a regular swellnet poster campbell.
WA local.
Hates pro surfing, pro surfers, Instagram and kooks.
Loves being negative about all of the above.
I wouldn't get too bent out of shape about the location being "exposed" - it's a very average wave for that area, quite easy to access by vehicle.
Many more waves, much better waves in that region.
Thats not entirely true. It's a good wave for that region, infact for much of the year its the Only good wave in that particular region.
yes yes yes...good waves but...
Think you might have missed the point….John Dot.
There will be more waves though, especially for the entitled.
“Capt Cook, when he landed in Oz, ordered this military 'men' to shoot a few locals to teach them about guns v's spears”
That’s not even remotely true
adjective: entitled /ɪnˈtʌɪt(ə)ld/
believing oneself to be inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment.

Everyone wants to monetise social media something these days. For the worst example just watch a complete and boring upload from Jack Freestone and wife.
I didn’t mind this clip.
Ollie Henry must be everyone’s mate then.
I surf by myself or sometimes in a small crowd for days and occasionally weeks on end in Indonesia, the spot is marked on magic seaweed, I dunno what people are bitching about so much on here.
Maybe time to unplug, resign and get away a bit more.
Maybe time to end your delusion that the place you surf with a few people is exempt from becoming an unrecognisable shitfight in the blink of an eye once a couple greedy fame whores decide to monetise it.
Still glad the Kepa vid seems hard to work out where it is unless some knob on youtube comments says it.Im more interested in waves like that than Blacks in SA these days.My mate here says Blacks is the heaviest wave he has surfed and its fucked his back after one wave everyone called him into.
imo south america but who knows. He worked as manager of one mile camp gnaraloo too in the 90's.
Groundswell , the waves of norwest WA are heavier and harder to catch and takeoff on than the one you name dropped mate. There is no comparison, the norwest waves are on another level. Much longer reefs and swell moves faster*.
(*swell peroids - hint)
Ok thanks Caml. Didnt mean to name drop again but uplift was always on about BF being Australias only heavy wave or something every post. Still havent got the hang of the bluff, cant figure out why every time i go there its sectiony unlike the billabong videos with occy and margo. Maybe period, size or direction but it seems fickle to me.Maybe i need to spend longer than a week there.
