Watch: Noa Deane // Noz Vid

Making good use of the COVID lockdowns, Noa Deane parked himself on the NSW South Coast following each swell into the reef, point, or wedge that best delivered on said conditions. B clips were wiped and A clips stored, only the barest of social media teases released, enough to know there was something coming.

And today it's released. Noz Vid. Thirty minutes of curated HP surfing.

I can see why all the Queenslanders leave, pumps down there. Unfortunately I suspect some of the South Coast locals aren't happy with a strong northerly, blow ins and a camera entourage to exploit some of their home breaks.

It's nothing new to be honest. The biggest issue is the overflow from Sydney who bring Jetski's and 20 mates down on 6ft days.

Yes came across that mid year when we (MP) went to the south coast. We don't normally get much above Moruya and didn't think Sydney folk went that far south but they were there. Back in the early 80's never got beyond Summercloud Bay.

Wasn't expecting early 2000's banger to kick it off.

Huge tubes, turns and airs with no spaz pumps.

Compared to what WSL has dished up since Trestles (excluding Haliewa) it feels like there is a gap opening up between "free" surfing and comps.

A sizeable gap.

1080p too, what year is this!? Count the pixels!

Agree though, beyond the WSL tripe served cold. Great film.

Tune worked well, and though I don't mind a slice of lo-fi, I reckon he should've kept the soundtrack on that plane. Pavement makes me wanna shove my hands in my jean pockets, hunch my shoulders, and kick at the sidewalk.

I want a range life...

Really loved the soundy- particularly the Sonic Youth cover of Superstar.

Anyone in the right mood should head straight to the Carpenters Original.

I also loved the dawny and late footage- at times it felt like an Andrew Kidman film on steroids.

Also very much liked the claymation, and the "fuck the WSL" reference.

Bigger, faster, higher than anything else going on, yet somehow also more thoughtful and less self conscious. Clip of the year I reckon.

Powerful like a gorilla, yet soft and yielding like a Nerf ball.

Royal Headache - another world at 8.00 mins
Perfect song from start to finish, underrated tune that ' slipped through to the keeper' at the time!

memlasurf Saturday, 10 Dec 2022 at 12:56 pm new

Seems like some very good surfers not fitting into the WSL mould probably no good in a heat but geez are they good to watch.

bluediamond Saturday, 10 Dec 2022 at 04:19 pm new

Brilliant! Start to finish. Fucken loved it. A classic surf vid.

This fella can't be environmentally friendly...
Being made of rubber and all.
Fantastic edit.

Craig Tuesday, 13 Dec 2022 at 08:34 am new

Crazy edit and some of the heavier waves that the East Coast has to offer.

Swany Wednesday, 14 Dec 2022 at 06:49 pm new

Have absolutely no desire to find out where the majority of these waves are! Love the entry angles into those right wedges and the take off/foamball commitment. Fucking gnarly.
